Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - First rate
This is an atlas not a history book, though the accompanying text makes the salient points very well. A double page spread for each campaign gives the high level overview at a glance. Ideal as a companion to other reading.
Attractive, high quality design, cartography, paper and printing. The publishers had the good sense to stitch rather than glue the binding, so the book will sustain repeated use.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Compact and superb
Bear in mind this is an atlas, not a history book. It is under 200 pages, but each double spread is packed with information and designed to give a quick, accurate overview of a particular campaign or phase. Even within this tight format some key elements of each conflict have been higlighted in the accompanying text.
A first rate companion to other reading. The design, cartography and printing are of a high quality. The publishers also had the good sense to stitch rather than glue the binding; so even as a paperback it will sustain repeated use.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good insight into past military events
This book deals with events from further back than the Roman empire to possible future conflicts. I feel that before you read this book it is worthwhile reading about preceeding events as it gives only the bare minimum in background detail. The military tactics are well illustrated particularly surrounding the world wars. I felt some interesting parts of history are missing such as the Zulu wars however the timeline of wars is broken up by maps of global coverage of various countries/factions/groups. Overall a good book for a military enthusiast or for someone who just wants to know what happened in previous wars.
