Old Bear's All-together Painting is a delightful story has been written and illustrated by Jane Hissey. It is aimed at younger children and is based on an activity that most children enjoy--painting--but this time the artists are a group of toys. They each would like to do their own masterpiece but things begin to go wrong. Spots run and become stripes, stripes become wavy, spots become splodges but Old Bear comes to the rescue and he creates a work of art that incorporates all their attempts. Everyone is delighted!

The story uses simple language and, along with the characters, is really appealing. The illustrations are bright and cheerful and young children will find them easy to relate to.--Susan Naylor

- A lovely gentle story of working together
This is a lovely tale of little bear and his toy friends each doing a painting because they would rather do their own thing than paint one single picture together. Then Old Bear, the sensible elder of the toy crew, cleverly turns all the resultant patterns into a lovely boat scene which is better then the sum of its parts. I came across this at the house of a friend and thought it was definitely the nicest Old Bear story I'd seen so we've added it to our book collection. The illustrations in this book, like Jane Hissey's others, have a wonderful soft timeless quality. In addition, whereas I have found some of the other Old Bear stories don't hold my children's attention too well, this one has less text per picture so we all love it. The book ... Read More:
