- Second Read Proved Eye-opening
Seven years ago my mother insisted I'd read this title because it had helped her so much - in hindsight, it makes so much sense she'd need it.

So I read it with great discomfort as I regarded each story to be worse than the preceding one. I could simply not relate to these women's horror stories. Why would they allow such behaviours? How could they choose to stay in such relationships? How crazy can one be?

Well, at the time I was in deep denial regarding my own childhood and adolescence so there was little chance that I would have related to these women.

- Not quite what I was expecting
Though I give credit to this book for analysing how and why women love too much, I found that most of the stories were a bit too extreme for me to completely relate to. I did not grow up with alcoholics, drug addicts for parents nor was I in an abusive relationship. Yet, I was not getting my needs met nor could I really let go. Reading it made me more depressed and also feel like a whiney cry baby because my life was not nearly as bad as most of the women's lives in the book. Yet, I was still sad, confused and needed help. I put this book down (not even finishing it), and picked up another - How to Break Your Addiction to a Person. This book gave me more insight into my own situation and made me realise that one doesn't need to grow up in a household ... Read More:

Wonderful book. Very easy to read. It took me back in time and after reading it I can now say, that I have found an answer to many of my actions in the past and in the present. And that brought me relief and peace.. at last, I now understand why..

When I saw the reviews from other women who said that within reading the first few lines of this book they were in tears, I didnt quite understand or even believe it. But when I read the first few lines and it felt like I was reading about muself I just burst into tears. The stories she tells about other women and how to become stronger and not obsessive are just amazing. This book is worth every penny!

- Never Too Old To Learn!
At 61yrs old, with two failed marriages and umpteen other "relationships" with men who were unavailable for many different reasons, I have finally realised what has been going on - I have just been recreating the non relationship with my father who abandoned us when I was 2yrs old, leaving me with a mother who suffered severe depression throughout my childhood, before killing herself when I was nineteen. This book just helped me so much, not just with my "relationship addiction" but with many other aspects of my "addictive personality". It was a book that you read once and then want to go back and start from the beginning again!
