- Ignore all the "want to be" book critics.
If you like peter Kay then buy this book. Ignoring all the 'wanna be book critics' desreratly looking to be discovered and offered a job with the world news agency. The book is peters look on his life in his own words and style. I'm not interested if it was badly writen, has gramatical errors or he jumps all over the place with out structure.
Reading the book was almost like chatting and listening to him talking about his life. So what ! that he stopped before he chatted about all his present success, i'm sure that another book will be out in a few years and will be equally funny. Enjoy

- Childhood mined for humour not bitterness
Decent northern British bloke who had a typical 70's working class life( back to back terraces, poor schools, worse diet) but who mined humour rather then bitterness out of it.

If you are British you will have read the book, seen the performances(mainly drawn the book and his life) or his award winning range of comedy-drama shows. Or seen and brought the charity song so know what I am on about.

If you are not British, then its very likely you never heard of him.Although he was a monster on Dr Who. And if you have did you really understand what he said...some if us don't and we speak the language!

In a short, very funny if you were there but er...what...if you weren't.

This was a great read and i finished it in two days! I loved all the little stories many of which reminded me of my own child hood and the strange, weird and odd things that happen to all of us.

I found this book to be very enjoyable. It is very much a comedy, lots of small stories (like his stand-up) which run in no particular order.
Its seems quite randomly put together but it works really well. After reading some of the other reviews on here, most "serious" readers are over looking the fact that this book is a comedy. its not a "warts n all" style biography.

I must say if you are not a fan of his stand-up and phoenix nights, you are not going to like it. If you like That Peter Kay thing you'll love it as most of the episodes from that are in this book. The book does seem to end rather suddenly which is a down point for me, I would have liked to hear some stories about things after he was famous. Anyway, a very ... Read More:
