Editorial Review:

Synopsis:
Norman Lewis's autobiography was originally published as "Jackdaw Cake" in 1985. It is now re-published with 50 new pages increasing in depth the story in the 1960s and 1970s, recording his time spent in the south of Italy. The book follows him from stammering schoolboy, whose parents were Spiritualists who hoped he might develop into a medium, to his meeting with an enigmatic and retiring Sicilian whose daughter he married, to his time with the bizarre duo Captain Merrylees and Sergeant Major Leopold who were locked in a wordless struggle for control of the Intelligence Corps section in which Lewis served in North Africa.
