'David Lowe has considerable experience of communicating complex
information in a readable and practical style and this guide is no
exception. Suitable for operators and drivers alike, it provides a concise
and easy-to-use quick reference source.'

Fully updated, this third edition includes
up-to-the-minute information on the new regulations for digital tachograph use.
It also includes:

  • which rules apply to which drivers;

  • which exemptions apply, and to whom;

  • which records must be kept and how this should be done;

  • what effect working time regulations have on the transport industry;

  • the implementation of the Working Time Regulations for road haulage drivers;

  • the EU’s proposed changes to existing drivers’ hours law;

  • the minimum wage rules;

  • the law on, and use of, digital tachographs;

  • the law on, and use of, digital ‘smart cards’.

This practical and unique guide provides drivers and truck operators with everything they need to know to comply with the law.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A good update
If, like me, you have come back to driving goods vehicles after a five year gap, you will find that the new EU rules on the number of hours you may drive in any set number of weeks to be quite confusing.

This little pocket book (and it does fit quite easily in your coat pocket or bag pocket, so you can carry it with you when you're driving) will help you to understand the new rules and also the updated old rules concerning breaks. It also tells you about the new tachograph rules and the minimum pay you should receive for certain hours worked.

It is very useful should you already have an old LGV Handbook but do not want to pay over £40 for a new one. Very good value.
