- It`s just as well you know that caroline escapes..
before you start reading this book, otherwise your nerves would be in pieces before the end of it. It is a frightening and disturbing read and has you on the edge of your seat willing her to stay away time and again. There can`t be many people on this earth as cruel and sadistic as the wests, and the fact that two of them actually met and married one another is creepy. Caroline, you don`t need me to tell you i`m sure, but you are one very lucky girl. Your guardian angel was surely with you back then. God bless you, stay safe. x

I dont know what I was expecting, though a lot of true life stories have a spirit to them, an edge. This woman peppered the book with tales of self pity, which started before the ordeal with the wests, in fact it was her off the rails life that got her to the wests in the first place. She has phrases like_ I won first prize in a beauty contest, because I was very pretty, although I didnt think so......The fact she can write she was pretty means she does think so/did...and anyway.....hardly gripping stuff. More than that, the fact she never took the wests to court after they kidnapped her, meant that they were able to go on killing and abusing for years. - A story of triumph and great courage
This is an excellent book and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone, although the chapter detailing the authors ordeal with the Wests does make for harrowing reading and may prove hard for some people to stomach. Caroline Roberts suffered a great deal throughout her life but instead of wasting her life and being bitter about what had happened in her past she sought help, confronted her own flaws and turned her life around. She is an inspiration to us all!

Words are hard to find to review this book. What Caroline Roberts went though her entire life no-one should ever have to suffer. This book is not for the faint hearted, but it is gripping. A personal book of survival and how now she can move on. Incredible Woman!!

There is only a handful of women to have survived attacks by monsters such as the Wests. A woman survived a Sutcliffe attack and Hailey Giblin survived Ian Huntley. A very special book.
