About the Author:
Alastair has built a team of talented editors who are as committed as he is to the search for authenticity and personality in places to stay. They are also 'driving' the world's first carbon 'neutral' publishing company; the search for a reduced ecological footprint is a serious one. The company has won The Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Sustainable Development category, an award from Business Commitment to the Environment and a Green Apple Award and moved to its own eco-offices in January 2006. Nicola Crosse also edits our 'Bed and Breakfast for Garden Lovers' guide. She brings to a demanding job an irrepressible affection for people and places and has a clear sense of what makes a place special.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Its always special with Alastair Sawday
I often turn to the Alastair Sawday website for help when looking for a place to stay. But there is nothing better than the guide. The maps give you a clear idea where the B&B's are, and you can then flip through the relevant entries to find one that suits you. And you can be sure that any one of them will be something out of the ordinary and worth the visit. I don't use anything else.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - From abroad
Living in France, and not returning very often to the UK, it is essential to have a book that `will keep us up to date with really good places to stay.
We never travel without a copy, and have found so many delightful 'homes abroad'. The only problem is choosing!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Meet people like you . . . .
I have a simple philosophy and that is always to stay somewhere that's as good as or better than my own home. The only reliable source of those places in my experience is Alistair Sawday's execellent guide

It's also the only B&B guide I've found that virtually guarantees a stimulating conversation with like minded people over breakfast!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - fantastic!!
Sawdays guides have always been of an extremely high standard, and this is no exception. Well laid out, with properties of great character, charm and originality, but with varying budgets to suit all pockets, you know if they appear in this book, standards will be high. In the hit and miss experience of B & Bing in Britain, this book is invaluable!! Get it today.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A treat in store
It's a pleasure just to flick through the special places to stay and fantasize. It's even better when you've finally chosen and can look forward to being there. Best of all when it comes to pass and you ARE staying in a beautiful Tudor farmhouse with a cosy fire and homemade scones! Alistair Sawday is always the first stop when we're looking for a comfortable and individual B&B, whether in Britain, Ireland or France.
