Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely buy this book!
If you only take one guidebook to Venice, make sure it's this one. We took the 1st Edition along on our first trip to Venice last year and it changed a good holiday into an amazing experience.
There is a mouth-watering introductory section with guidance on what specialities to look out, very useful for a first timer. The main section reviews recommended bars, cafes and restaurants, usefully divided into geographical areas so you can easily plan an itinerary to fit in with sight-seeing. The enthusiasm of the authors for good food and for the city of Venice shines through on every page.
The reviews of bars and restaurants are completely honest and reliable, not only for the quality of food but also for the ambience and helpfulness ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great way to have a great holiday in a great city
I have been to Venice twice now, and finding good restaurants the first time was very difficult. I have just come back from my second trip, and in five days we dined at six of the authors' recommendations, and they were all excellent.

Some of these restaurants would be impossible to find any other way (e.g. Locanda Montin).

This book made our vacation a real gourmet experience

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Chow! Venice: Savouring the Food and Wine of La Serenissima
I've tried a number of focussed city break guides over the years, but this one does what it says on the cover, it works! In itself the book is an entertaining and often amusing insight into how Venetians live, eat and drink. It is as if you have a local guide with you pointing you to not just the best known places but to restaurants and bars with atmosphere and the food is normally good too! Sometimes places may be a little off the beaten track, but all the more worth the visit.
The price guides and descriptions of restaurants are accurate, so much so that you can usually spot the owner or particular member of staff just from the books description. The bars are just as good, make sure you ask for a "spritz" when trying some of the places listed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - entertaining and useful
This guide to eating out in venice is not only a vital help in avoiding tourist traps and finding delicious food but entertaining reading. The authors help you to discover the best restaurants, pastry shops and bars, all personally visited many times. They include useful and necessary directions. Indispensable for a first time or a returning visitor to Venice. But the book, unlike many dining guides, also makes good armchair reading. The book is peppered with amusing and touching anecdotes. They are non- intrusive and easy to skip over if you are in a hurry to find somewhere for dinner. But the authors are wonderful writers and the anecdotes greatly added to my enjoyment of this book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Don't leave home without one !
A thoroughly researched and well written book about one of the mysteries of Venice, where to eat well !
La Serenissima is infamous for tourist trap food so to avoid this problem you need to research the subject well. With a copy of this book the hard work is done for you.
It's format is easy to follow and the book is a pleasant read in it's own right, the authors are clearly in love with this most magical city.
The book is strong on bars as well as restaurants ranging from the simple to the grand with just about something for everyone. The clear directions and good maps will ease your way to each establishment.
Gelaterie are not forgotten and the list of shops and supermarkets is invaluable for those who are self catering. There are ... Read More:
