- The Best Available Version of the Intelligent Genre Fan Fave
DVD owners be warned: this remains the superior version of the film. The US and UK DVDs are identical (as is the one in the Exorcist Trilogy box set) and contain the inferior longer version of the film which got a critical slamming in the US. The music is also weaker on the DVD than VHS (being remixed to its detriment and missing some tracks altogether). This VHS is a superior cut to the original UK VHS and (from what I recall) the theatrical version. Obviously the DVd has better picture quality, but the scenes that have been left in the DVD and the music that has been cut out diminish the film enormously. - Its not supposed to be The Exorcist all over agian
Everyone thinks this film is going to be like the original, but thank god its not, because you dont want to keep reviving the same story. You already have a great story line with the first one, this movie just carries on four years later. And its brilliant, Exorcist fans will probably agree, along with Linda Blair fans. Its always been in my collection. We need the DVD now. A good Horror/Drama worth watching.

Ok, so it isn't as good as the original!

But I continue to stress that the only reason people don't like this movie, is because they all expected to see Regan get posessed again!

I thought it was very interesting, concentrating on Regan and Merrin's past and what Regan has had to deal with since the exorcism, and yes - I didn't find anything at all wrong with Linda Blair's tapdancing!

Don't watch this movie expecting to see Regan posessed, that is not the aim of the film!

- Why Mr Burton?
Following in the rather controversial wake of the original film, this lack-lustre sequel pales into insignificance by comparison. It's story is neither frightening or disturbing (unlike the first)and, frankly, Richard Burton (a fine actor I might add)looks bored and ambles through a reasonable performance - but even with his magnitude the film failes to take off. A better film to buy would be The Exorcist 3 billed as the only true sucessor to the first classic.
