Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
A deft balance between special effects, comedy and family dynamics made this 1989 film a hit for Disney and spawned both a string of video sequels and a subsequent TV series. Moranis is endearing as the bumbling inventor/father of the Szalinski family. He inadvertently shrinks his own children then throws them out with the trash. They, along with the neighbour kids, must journey back across their own backyard, now an enormous, dangerous distance, to get back to the right height. Much is done with the perils of the lawn, from a wild deluge from the sprinklers to a nasty encounter with the lawnmower and numerous encounters with gigantic insects. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is a generally kid-friendly, inventive (no pun intended) and entertaining outing. --Keith Simanton

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It May Be About Shrinking People But This Is A Big Movie
Rick Moranis plays a scientist who is determined to invent a working shrink ray but with no luck until one day and accident occurs and a baseball becomes a part of the shrink machine which finally gets it working.
Looking for the baseball the scientists kids and the kids from next door venture into the attic where the shrink ray is stored and worked on. When the kids are in the attic the shrink ray fires and shrinks the kids so that's when the adventure begins.
Because i aint seen this movie in a long time they somehow end up in the backyard which gets them into a whole lot of trouble.
They adopt an ant and fight a scorpion, this movie is excellent and the set design is awesome so watch this movie because you will love every ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of my all time favorite movies
Wayne Szalinski is convinced he has figured out a way to shrink the size of matter. It works great on paper, but he can't make it work in real life. While he's at a conference presenting his ideas, the machine accidentally shrinks his and his neighbor's kids. When they get thrown out with the trash, they must journey across the backyard, avoiding bugs, sprinklers, and lawnmowers. Meanwhile, Wayne and his wife try to fix the machine and find the kids. Will they find them before it's too late? Can Wayne figure out how to make the machine work to reverse the process?

This is one of my favorite movies. It combines a great story and great characters with great special effects. All the characters grow because of their experiences, even both ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Cheesy 80s America at its best.
I must have seen this film ten times or more, each Boxing day, but i never tire of it. For me, the best thing about this film, is it captures every clique of 80s America; the cheerleader style girl in pink legwarmers dancing around with a mop to great classics of the 80s, the geeky younger brother in stereyotypical scientist clothes, the blond 'mom', the next door neighbour etc. It has everything a kid wants in a film, humour, special effects(although they do leave a lot to be desired)and most of all, it brings to life what everyone wanted to do when they were younger, have an adventure. The makers also try to provide the slightly older kids with the old romamce story between the goodlooking girl and the weedy but attractive nextdoor neighbour. That ... Read More:
