Nintendo first dabbled in video games during the industry's early years of the mid-70s. Generations of successful gaming console releases through the years led to the much-hyped 1996 launch of Nintendo 64, a system that represented a giant evolutionary leap in video game technology. Within the first three days of launch, hundreds of thousands of gamers hunkered down with Mario 64, considered by many to be one of the greatest video games ever created. Even today, the system's excellent design continues to host an ever-expanding library of breakthrough games.

Nintendo 64's popularity among younger gamers is no surprise. Well-respected games featuring such long-lived and much-loved personalities as Mario (of arcade classic Donkey Kong fame), Zelda, and Banjo-Kazooie are easy to learn and offer enormous replay value. But times are a' changin' and the system's ever-growing library of titles has expanded into every genre of games imaginable, including games better suited for older gamers. In fact, some of the most acclaimed--in some cases, groundbreaking--games available on any platform today are packed onto N64's old-school cartridges.

Under the system's hood, its appeal to the young certainly didn't produce a less mature gaming machine. On the contrary, the 64-bit system boasts impressive graphics, stereo sound, and numerous accessory enhancements, including a high-resolution pack that boosts graphics to awe-inspiring resolutions.

Start your library with Goldeneye 007, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, and Star Wars: Episode One Racer--these titles represent a decent start to any N64 cartridge library.

With the launch of Sega's Dreamcast system, Nintendo 64 is being left behind as the leader in video game technology. And with newer game systems featuring CD-based games, the system's expensive cartridge format is proving itself an archaic and unconventional storage format. - This console still stands out today.
The Nintendo 64 was the first console I bought with my own money (I'm talking about 1998). I still remember saving up loads of pocket money for this, and only managing to buy the console which came with one remote (those awesome remotes!) and no game. The first time I saw the N64 was at a friend's house, he had imported it from the USA. Just the shape of it gave me goose-bumps! The fact it had 4 ports for remotes allowing 4 people to play simultaneously was the most attractive aspect of it, until I saw the graphics on Mario Kart 64! We played for hours, non-stop, and I yearned for the console to be on sale in Europe so I could get my hands on one. My first game was FIFA 64. Legendary. - Could it be we love it more than ever?
I suppose it's hard to review the N64 looking back. Now that technologically, it's been super-seeded many times over, one thing that modern consoles over the past 5/6 years have lacked are ground-breaking titles. With this in mind... just how many did the N64 produce?

Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64, Mario Karts, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo and Kazooie, Mario Party 1, Super Smash Brothers... all these titles most of us, N64 owners, bought or played on.

In fact, it has to be said that the N64 produced the 'most' amount of ground-breaking titles we've seen on a console to date. It's not because the producers tried any harder or any less harder, it was because the ideas were new and fresh. What's more, none of these games ... Read More:

- Although technology is advancing, this will be here to stay
Nothing can beat the classics. Graphics power and sound quality and HD may be the new era but nothing can live up to the simplicity and the sheer enjoyability that we have came to know as the N64. When i first went to my cousins house, he had this console and at the time it was like the XBOX 360 of the era. He had mario kart and i was just blown away. I had to have one of these consoles. I first got my N64 in 1999, and let me tell you, i was so happy that i got it. The controller looked complex at the time because i was used to playing Sega Megadrive, but i soon got used to it. The console looked sleek, it was compatible with a rumble pak, a transfer pak, a memory pak, and an expansion pak.

the nintendo 64 witch i got for my 3rd birthday along with blast corps and formula 1 was my first console and has been my favorite ever since.when i got really good and a bit bored of the 2 games when i got 27.86b and completed every level with every vehicle/suit on blast corps and got 1st place on every race for 57 games running with a gold medal in every tournament and every racer and car. i got some pokemon games e.g. pokemon stadium/pokemon snap i started to get good at those games too. i got every picture and every island on pokemon snap and i got every pokemon including mewtwo on pokemon stadium.now u can guest that i got bored of them and then i started to colect more games (any games i saw)and of couse i completed them and then i saw a gameboy ... - One Of The Most Legendary Consoles Nintendo Has Ever Done!!
If you are looking for a console, which you will have for a everlasting career, then the Nintendo 64 is the console for you! The Nintendo 64 is Nintendo's first console, which introduced 3D Graphical Technology! and it is one of my personal favourites!

It was released way back on 1st March 1997, and when this wondrous device, hit the shops, it showed gamers the stuff they needed to see! To tell you the truth, without the power of the Nintendo 64, none of today's consoles would have had the power to produce highly intensive graphics as you would have seen today!

Of course, the Nintendo 64 isn't the best top quality console ever developed around Earth, but it surely is one, which is truly born to show you a piece or two about gaming! ... Read More:
