Set around the events of 1991's head-to-head with the Iraqis, Conflict: Desert Storm presents a stylised view of the confrontation, allowing players to see the war unfold through the eyes of either Delta Force or the good old SAS. Combining first and third-person perspectives with a thoroughly well-designed team-based model, the game manages to pull off the almost unthinkable double for a console by being both engaging and easy to manage--not something that comes easily when you have a limited number of controller buttons.

The plotline is standard military sim fare--strategic targets must be blown up, prisoners rescued and bullets expended by the thousand--but the extra edge provided by the ability to drive vehicles and to creep around undetected by the excitable Iraqi guards makes this a must-have rather than a nice-to-have. The maximum squad size for any given mission is four team members, each soldier having a special ability ranging from marksmanship to explosives use. In theory, handling four troops simultaneously sounds like a tall order but developer Pivotal has done a great job of creating a control system that works well, even in the heat of battle.

Desert Storm is not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination and the learning curve can be quite steep; stick with it, though, and there's much to recommend it. For the cautious player there's an excellent training mode that gives thorough instruction on how to perform all of the basic functions and is guaranteed to turn you into a killing machine. --Chris Russell

Ok, so first you start on the main menu.
Which is preety easy to understand, and straight forwards... and none of those complicated menus, that you can't find anything.

Then you start the game; loading times are ok, not the fastest... but you don't feel fustrated by the wait.

The tutorial mode is also great, it's not boring like a lot of game tutorials out there.
This one, you even come to laugh with the way that the major talks to you.

But the controls are so easy, that you don't even need to do the tutorial.
Do it anyway, just for a laugh.

You start the campaign, and you are quickly drawn into the magnificent graphycs, and the environment.

When i bought the game in 2002, i loved the S.A.S and was fasinated by theGulf War, yet to say that Conflict Desert Storm met all of myexspectations and went beyond them. In the game you have control of fourS.A.S or US Delta Force troopers, Bradley, Fouley, Connors and James. Youhave to guide them through a maze of levels ranging from the streets ofBaghdad to the open desert of and valleys like the all time historic ScudBouvelard. You can make the most of you specialist troopers equipment ie:Connors is a heavy weapons specialist so he has a tripod, and Fouley is asniper, so you can use that etc. The game has a story line based aroundreal missions carried out by the forces. This game is probly one of the best games i have ever played, i have never played a game that has been so stragetic, i love the way u can control up to 4 different people, the mission's are great fun and i love the way i can play this with my brother cos i can boss him around and get him to give me his weapons :p, hehe, the graphics on this game r not brilliant but they r good anothe, This game is deffently worth buying cos its a game u can play over and over again

This is one of the most engrossing team based games for the playstation 2,Gamecube and X Box to date. This is because of the way in which you can switch between characters to perform different tasks such as using the engineer to clear a path for your tank. Overall I think this is with out a doubt one of the best games for any of the consoles.

Best FPS I've played. Control four team members individually, or be a moron and just stay as the same character. More freedom than MOH, it's just more fun !
If first person tactical shooters are your thing, then you've already got this. If not, buy it, then pre-order the sequel. Class.
