Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Anyone who's caught Manu Chao and his band Radio Bemba Sound System at one of their live gigs will testify that the Parisian troubadour sure knows how to throw a party. This live album draws on reggae, salsa and Latin pop classics from Chao's first two excellent solo albums (Clandestino and Proxima Estacion: Esperanza) and joyous gems from his time leading the more punk tinged Mano Negra. While the styles vary as often as the languages (Chao flits from Spanish to English to French as he translates his life as a global nomad into his music), the common thread is a sense of vitality and hope. From the uplifting reggae of "Bienvenida a Tijuana" to the African pop and salsa of "Casa Babylon", Chao is the pied piper of multiculturalism, leading his crowd on a (literally) merry dance. And it's the crowd that really makes these 29 tracks come into their own. You can almost picture the mob waving, cheering, blowing whistles, shouting into megaphones and generally having the wildest time this side of Rio Mardi Gras. This is a great flashback for those harking after Chao live and a perfect introduction to his excellence for recent converts. --Ian Watson

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - dull
This is a live album and while it is full of energy, every single song is effectively done at the same tempo. So after a while it all just blurs into an aural mush. I have all the studio albums and while I am sure that being 'there' at the live show is great. It didn't come across that interesting on record.

Stick with the studio ones.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Re-Released gem
I understand that when this was originally released in 2002 there were some issues with the production so I have to assume this has been re-released having been re-mastered on the back of the success of La radiolina. Suffice to say this chugs out of the lap top speakers well enough and sounds good on my admittedly old stereogram(!)

So if you want raucous lively latin style ska/reggae, and quite possibly the best party album of the year so far then this is the one for you. a toe tapping cheerful gem

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A revelation
Saw the band for the first time on TV at Glastonbury. I was blown away by them. This album comes close to capturing that energy and diffusion of styles.

This is world music thats choc full of life, rythmns and happiness. You can't listen to it without feeling totally energised.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - ANALOGUE COPY SOUNDS BETTER ANYWAY!!
This is a content masterpiece.
As for some complaints about a cacophony of sound well the irony here is that this copy-protected disc sounds better once transferred via analogue phono leads to either a home-size MD or CDR or DVDR or to a traditional audio cassette deck. Intelligent people who care about music and sound DO NOT use their PC for any of this. It is so much easier to connect a stand alone CD player to an MD or cassette and dub this disc via analogue leads and output with the results being that the vocals and instruments become better defined anyway.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Radio Remba copy protection
I received this CD as a gift and tried to play it on my computer.

There was no warning that the disk would attempt to load software onto my disk. I never allow programs that I know nothing about to be loaded, so clicked the 'Cancel' button rather than the 'Accept' button.

I will never hear this CD which is fair enough if I don't agree to their terms...

but now I get the 'About to update software Accept/Cancel' dialog every time I insert any of my other CDs, so I cannot play any of them either.

There was no warning that this would happen on the CD.
