Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sharp's the word and quick's the action!
A good musical score is can what often make a good film excellent, as is the case with Master and Commander. The soundtrack is classical but not stuffy, energetic without being intrusive. In other words, just excellent. If you enjoyed the film then it is a certainty that you will love the score.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautiful blend of music
As a huge fan of the film I rushed to buy the soundtrack soon after and I must say I was not disappointed! The music is beautifully composed, complementing the film perfectly. Even though my main preference is not classical music I frequently listen to this soundtrack as I find it highly relaxing; perfect for unwinding after a busy day.

Certainly recommended!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautiful
There is something beautiful and enthrawling about the violin and the cello and since watching this movie and especially since listening to the soundtrack I will always hear the violins in the waves of the sea.

The last track - one by Bocherini, a composer whom I think should be as popular as Mozart or Beethoven I think really makes this sountrack what it is. Changeable and full of hidden energy.

Even without seeing the movie this soundtrack can be enjoyed, but of course it does help to visualise what you hear.

A good movie sountrack is one where you can feel and see the movie within it, it reflects the character and the memory of the movie on its own and not just thre to accompany dull scenese. (All depends ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A TRIUMPH.
This is a superb soundtrack that vividly captures the unique delights of the Aubrey saga.
We have the incredibly atmospheric pieces that were used in the film in times of tension and they are followed by the joyous violin and cello favourites of Aubrey/Maturin which in turn are followed by the moving score that was set to the scenes of lamentation and so on.
This C.D is a must whether you are wanting to be reminded of the incredible film, are a fan of the books and want a background to your reading(highly reccomended), are a fan of inspirational sountracks, or just enjoy good music.
A sheer delight.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent evocative music....
I have yet to see the film, but have read the first two Patrick O'Brian books. I really enjoyed the books, and the CD soundtrack is great to listen to as you read along.

Music written for film, as much of this CD is, is so much better as it was obviously composed to compliment and enhance the action and visual production values. The mixture of original score with existing classical and folk music really worked well. I can't wait to see the film now.
