Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Four products in one, this multitalented firewall router combines an ADSL modem, router, four-port 10/100 LAN switch, and SPI True Firewall to deliver broadband access that's continuously available for sharing with all your networked devices. Simple to use, it plugs directly into your ADSL line for instant connectivity to network resources and the Internet, and an integrated switch lets you directly connect up to four computers or any combination of four computers, access points or printers. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wired Modem-router
I chose this item on the basis of the overwhelming number of favourable reports. Indeed it does seem to do the job well. My only criticism is that the description and functions of the front panel LED displays in the set-up manual, in the set-up procedure and on the device itself are inconsistent. This misled me, so causing considerable delay in what could have been a 20-minute set-up time as claimed. Anyone using the Wizard for setting up should NOT expect the LED, variously referred to as "Internet" or "test", to light up when the DG834 is initially connected up to the ASDL line, the Ethernet port and the power lead.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Very poor ....
Running OX 10.5 and just wasted hours and had to revert to an old BT Voyager just don;t get it with Macs just rubbish!!!.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Simple to use, but not robust enough
I have had my DG834G for a couple of years. It is easy to set up and use, but recently I decided to extend my network by using the wired ethernet ports too. This worked well at first, but the hardware started to fail as the strain from the additional cables damaged the ethernet connections. This is sold as a wired router - it should be robust enough to connect to multiple ethernet cables.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Superb modem for beginners with PCs
After a day of struggling with a cheap modem, I bought the Netgear. I unpacked it, plugged it in, entered my username and password....and it connected immediately. What more can you say?

Actually, what you can say is that the autosetup wizard only works for Windows, and Mac and Unix users will have to hunt through the PDF manual to find the IP address you need to enter your details (the html help screens are utterly useless). But if you have a PC then this modem is the mutt's nuts.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - best modem ever
i have lost of LAN party so i chose a router that had atleast 4 outputs. i had this beast up and running in about 5mins and that was about 8 months ago i have about to laptops, a PC and an xbox 360 running on it and it still dosent lagg this is a very good bit of kit.
