- Provides the basics at an affordable price
Although a little long in the tooth, I now have two of these, at least five years after buying my first one. They both work, I just wanted to have one at work and the other at home to save carrying it around.
That said, it is highly portable able to slip into a shirt pocket and there are plenty of accessories such as a hard case if you work in an environment where it is likely to be crushed by a demolition ball or something.
The software is basic, but it does what I need, i.e. logs names, addresses, tel numbers, emails, additional notes and has extra features such as calender, to do list, note pad, games, calculator, clock etc.
The PC link & sychonisation is also simple & effective

My Zire 21 worked fine for 6 months, but now when i try to 'Hotsync' from the address page it defaults to 'Notebook' each time and gets hung up.
I have tried the Reset procedures but to no avail.
Meanwhile I am stuck with the info presently stored, and cannot add or delete anything!
Has anybody else had this problem?

Exactly what I was looking for.....basic Diary & Address book..plus I bought an eWallet program to store bank details, passwords etc.
Black & White screen is fine, battery last over 2 weeks with average use (perfect for taking on holiday).
Had it 4 months so far without any problems at all.

You'd be better off just buying a diary than this. I wanted something basic but this is actually not worth the time i spent on it. the graffiti 2 software doesn't work very well, but my main gripe is that the damn thing keeps crashing. Has done it twice this week and wiped all the data - I'm looking for a refund now.

The Zire 21 is a digital Filofax, nothing more, and will happily keep all your appointments and contacts as well as back them up on your PC. It's small, light and stylish, and does its job. However, beyond that it falls down due to its un-backlit monochrome screen and small memory, which will not be enough for most applications or PDA games. Nevertheless, it is good for carrying eBooks, which don't need colour, but I think the best value PDA on the market would not be the 21, but the Zire 31. For £40 more, you get twice the memory, a bright, backlit colour screen and multimedia functionality.
