- My second Canon camera is awesome!
I have used a Canon G5 for the past 3 years, and have used my 20d for the last 15 months, it has to be the best purchase yet. I find the the extra battery grip BG-E2 helps with the balance when using my 24-70mm f2.8 lens, as well as it having the extra battery and controls neatly placed where you need them.

I am amazed at the lowlight ability the camera has, as I often shoot without flash indoors and with or without a tripod I have got some awesome shots. Also to underline its simplicity I have had my 2 daughters use it on two separate birthday celebrations to shoot many shots, 370 between us all! They were celebrating their 18th and 14th birthdays, and they both were able to shoot some great shots on AF without the need to go to ... Read More:

- It is just fantastic
I have had this camera since they first came out over a year (or is it two even now?). During the first shoot I used it on, not even having read the manual, I got shots worthy of competition wins. It handled action shots, sunsets over the gulf coast of Florida and some nice village scenes back in the UK.

It has been used out of fast ribs (boats) in the Solent getting drenched with sea spray, bumped around various boats and each and every time is has performed and faultlessly under the harshest conditions I could imagine.

The 20D has to be equal or probably better than anything in it's class, personally I don't go amateur /professional, if you have the cash and you want one then definately get one regardless of whether you are new to DLR's or a pro.
Ignore the elitist's out there as this camera is very easy to understand, and you will be taking some amazing shots in no time at all, I wouldn't say the body is heavy I would rather say it's very well made, and like other reviewers would recommend as much memory as you can afford as once you get snapping you won't know when to stop.The controls are very easy to adjust whilst composing the shot such as exposure/flash compensation and the pop up flash although limited will do a job,(usually as much as a full stop extra ... Brilliant camera, a pleasure to use and superb results.
I have owned one since last Spring and still revel in it.
Extremely impressive battery life, equally impressive is
how the battery does not lose charge very fast when the
camera sits unused for a time - not always true with
digital camera batteries. The only drawbacks that have
struck me: (1) it is heavy and will make your neck ache
when using a serious lens such as the Canon 10-22mm,
which I have, and love equally; (2) like all digital
SLRs it is subject to dust spots on the sensor, a real
problem; (3) again like most digital SLRS, as far as I know,
it is noisy and therefore not for the shy or candid
photographer in many surroundings.

Without doubt this camera is impressive. The moment you put the 20D into your hands you feel at home with it. The 20D just feels impressive and taking images with this camera is a joy, though more demanding than your normal point and shoot digital camera. Getting to know your 20D will pay lots of dividends in the long run and I would suggest that owners of the 20D read the instruction manual and then read it again, while trying out all the many and varied functions.
