- Orishas Best: Hip-Hop Cuban Style
My knowledge of Hip-Hop is far from a scholarly and my passion for it has always been specific to certain people. Whether it was Public Enemy and early Ice-T toward the beginning, Lauryn Hill with and without The Fugees, or Eminem and Outkast in more recent times, my ears always stay with people who enrich the style and had something significant to say.
This is not to say that there have not been many others like them, which I simply lack enough knowledge of, nor the fact that I can absolutely expect and dig great grooves and some serious Funk. Now, you can add Orishas to my list of stunning Rap/Hip-Hop, and I strongly urge that you add them to your list. These guys combine powerful words and an impressive breadth of musical influences ... Fourteen tracks, each one as addictive as the next! Orishas' fusion of salsa/cuban rhythym and hip hop makes El Kilo an album to be rivalled..catchy tunes, shoulder shaking and hip spinning beats ....artistic genius! One of the best bands about, (...) - not a second of disappointment - wonderful live and on record, what more could one ask? Buy it, you'll be soooo happy you did!

Another mind blowing album from the Orishas. It normally takes me a while to get used to a new album, I put this on and I couldn't stop listening to it, I had it on repeat like 5 times before I stopped and went to bed. Absolutely fantastic, funky hip hop with a wonderfully subtle but strong Cuban beat. Totally original, they are one of the best bands around these days. Lots of great new tracks they played at their concert at the Royal Festival Hall too. Buy it!! You will not be disappointed :-)))

This is defintely their best album yet. Am amazing fusion of salsa, hip-hop and rap. The energy and passion that they project on stage is well captured on this CD. If you get the chance, go and see them live - their recent concert in London was electric!

The best Orishas so far. It's got more hooks than a piece of velcro. These guys write insanely catchy melodies - it's one of those albums where your favourite will change all the time. You'll be listening to one track and be convinced it's the best one on there...and then the next one kicks in! Track 1 does the business at salsa every week. Buy this album - you won't be disappointed.
