The reviews above have summed it up really. I just wish I had read them before I bought it. Essentially the projection is appalling and completely out of focus unless standing on a chair. The "laser" pointer was a torch with a red bulb - not a pointer and the fact that 6 batteries were required is a joke. Don't buy it.

we got this as a present. I loved the idea, i love the stars, my 7 yr old son was very excited. the reality unfortunately is a fuzzy image on the ceiling, unreadable and deeply disappointing.
the american movie-voice on the CD attempts to conjur up a magical thrilling atmosphere, but it is not born out by the limitations of the projector. i actually quite enjoyed the CD, despite the american drawl, it was lovely to see my son engrossed in the classical greek myths, but spend your money on audio CD's not this rubbish.
better still, make a flask of hot chocolate, go build a fire, and lie on your back with them staring at the night sky. that is really magical!

Whilst this gizmo is fine in theory ... its display is blurry against the ceiling and walls and the further away it is the worst it gets. You need to be about 3ft from the ceiling to see anything clearly. We feel ripped off at paying this amount of money for something this flimsy and am surprised that National Geographic have associated their name with it.

This 'Planetarium', dissappoints both my children an myself and my wife and even our dog.

I seriously recommend not buying this item as it is of very poor quality to say the least.

It would be nice if this item had dark ball with transparent holes, not the opposite construction as it has. The picture shown at the ceiling is fuzzy and not clear. Not recommended.
