Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - SO important
I read the reviews for this and knew I'd enjoy it. I have a habit of ovr-hyping things like this, but this film did not dissappoint. This was an excellent film. The interviews with various people are excellent and very insightful, it's beatifully filmed and the soundtrack's perfect. Some of the film's strongest points are:

1) It highlights important areas of african history, some of which are widely unknown
2) It challenges western propaganda surrounding african history (i.e. africans enslaving other africans)
3) It also challenges current views on how we are told to treat the subject of slavery
4) Most importantly, this documentary not only highlights the causes of struggles facing the african peoples of the ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic film
I have seen 500 years many times. Everytime I watch it I feel a sense of excitment. I see something that I have not seen in previous viewings. The film takes me to places I have never seen and exposes me to culture in a way I have never experienced. I recommend that this film is seen by everyone and by all ages.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - not only a piece of art
Only one of its kind. The film depicts the reality of not only the African Diaspora, but also anyone in search for his or her own ancestral seed, all of this is manifested in the authentic voices of speakers who have physically changed conditions of societies through speech. I learn something new every time I watch it. It's a "must have" for the seeker of truth. 500 YEARS LATER brings to light a forgotten history and a past very few people knew existed.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Must see film
500 YEARS LATER is an amazing, honest, thought provoking film. Anyone looking to gain a wide perspective on the Black experience should watch this film. You don't have the average cinema experience when watching this film which is what makes it unique. As well as this, the varied imagery is beautiful. This film should be used as an educational tool in all institutions.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing, thought provoking film
Excellent film! A real eye-opener with amazing cinematography. The audience is taken on a journey around the world and presented with an array of beautiful images from Africa, to the Caribbean and many other places. 500 Years Later deals with many social issues affecting the African community in the diaspora & on the continent. It is very educational and should therefore be made available for all young people to watch as it deals with the global African experience like no other film. You can't help but be affected by this film. Not only does it lay out the problems affecting the global African community but it also lays out some hopes for the future.
