- Had better and had a lot worse!
AOL will tell you this is not suitable for their service...it is! It is also a lot more stable and reliable than the Thompson rubbish you get as part of their package :)

The faults:

It drops the line now and then....sometimes twice a day! sometimes it will go a week, but when it drops it means a reboot. Also the wireless can stop responding after a while (usually once a week) and again this will mean a reboot!

The good bits:

Range is ok and with the addition of a range booster I am running 4 wired computers and 6 wireless - in two buildings! It can be wall mounted and is quite small (but not really stylish) It is straight forward to set up!

Bought the Linksys to restore my sanity after problems with my Thomson router - and boy is it good. Easy to setup, just one small tweak with the setup info to work with adsl2+ and no username-password and away we go! Perfect, uninterrupted wireless and internet signal since switched on over three weeks ago. The Thomson routers (I had two!) have gone back to the isp - and good riddance.
The chap who had problems previously must have had a bad box - it happens I guess. This Linksys is a good router as far as I am concerned.

I bought this a year ago but it has been nothing but trouble. It runs very hot and consistently drops the line, making it unusable. The Linksys model is being sent back under warranty as "not fit for purpose". Definitely not a good buy. Plenty of reviews can be found on the net about these faults.
I've just replaced it with a Netgear Super G and that was a doddle to set up and is very stable. It looks cheap, but it works.

After getting a speedtouch modem from my new broadband provider I wasnt prepared for the nightmare of what was to follow. The speedtouch modem and vista did not get along. After many calls to the tech help team who lead me a merry dance down many a false road with talk of discs and downloads that did not exist I finally got through to someone who didnt lie who said "its not gonna happen" not the news I wanted to hear but at least now I knew. Vista dosent like modems at all the only solution a router so the following day I bought a buffalo router about £55. Big mistake it wouldnt install the disc and vista didnt understand what it was, no auto detect here!!!. The following day when I took it back I decided to spend a little more and buy a better ...
