- Poor build quality
I bought this steamer about 18 months ago. Within a few months the handle of the lid came off which I have had to glue back on. After that one of the baskets started to crack. Since then 2 of the baskets have cracked so bad that they fell to pieces. The last basket is badly cracked also and is no longer safe to use. Two of the feet have also fallen off making the machine unstable on the kitchen surface.

The actual cooking ability of the steamer is great. It is easy to use (except for the annoyingly inadequate overflow draw at the back) and very quick. Shame it falls apart!

Less than three months ago I bought one of these. It started leaking some water fairly soon afterwards. The lid broke today. We have used it five or six times per week.

We have owned Tefal steamers for a long time, and the quality, and product life, has deteriorated to the point that they are now incompatible with the Sale of Goods Act.

Replacement lids and baskets are extortionately priced, so the Tefal's idea seems to be that either the customer buys a new steamer each year or spends an even greater sum on replacement baskets and lids. Hardly convenient or environmentally sound.

They are a great idea badly implemented. Keep your receipt/email for the warranty claim.

- Baskets are a poor quality
This steamer has been great and we have bought two of them and just ordered a third. The cooking is incredibly fast and the flavour of the vegetables brilliant, much better than with some other brands. The only problem with this steamer is that the baskets will crack after regular use and the handle on the lid will come off after a while. Looked at the Tefal Website and ordering spare parts but for the cost of new baskets and a new lid you might as well order a new steamer.

I've had this steamer for 3 years and I wouldn't be without it. In fact I'm about to buy my 2nd one without hesitation. The only reason I'm on my 2nd one is not the machines fault but my husband's, but that's another story!!

It cooks all food very well but salmon is especially excellent. It's quick and I love the vitamin plus facility. The external top up is great for me as I always forget to fill up the reservoir before starting! Veg is always cooked so well and I always feel I'm getting all the nutrients especially for my little girl. As a result of this steamer I've only ever used 2 rings on my hob cooker - until the past week that is of course when I've been without it. So it saves using cumberson and slow saucepans.

- Excellent cooker, poor build quality. Flawed genius
Bought one of these originally and loved it. The vitamin plus option really did reduce the cooking time and even when mutli-stacked, there was no need to adjust cooking times as per other designs. Cooked all our veg perfectly.

Sadly, after about a year the seal around the element failed which we believed to be hazardous so sought a replacement. Went for a cheaper alternative which seemed as powerful but did not have the vitamin plus function. Everthing took much longer and results were very inconsistent when using multiple layers.

Went back to a vitamin plus but with digital timer. Forget it ! The steam build up is so vigorous it gets behind the digital display so you can no longer read it and you're unable to add ... Read More:
