The Laser Shot LBP-5000 printer is the latest addition to Canon?s range of laser colour printers. It prints at up to 8 A4 pages per minute, and has a resolution of 9600 x 1600 dpi with the Automatic Image Refinement (AIR) function. Canon?s advanced printing technology uses high speed processing in combination with efficient compression technology to ensure high output; and the Laser Shot LBP-5000 requires no warm-up time, generating a first print in less than 20 seconds in both black and white and colour. The Laser Shot LBP-5000 is Canon?s first colour printer with all-in-one cartridges. All you have to do is replace the cartridge and your printer is as good as new. The LBP-5000 is perfect for users looking for high quality prints!

I bought this last week, and within minutes had it working on xp (bearing in mind the comment to let xp install it and not work directly from the cd), and also on leopard (driver downloaded from canon, it's not on the cd). It prints nicely, including photos, although obviously if you want photoshop quality it's not here, but it's perfectly good enough for me. I'm very happy with it.

This printer looks very stylish and has a quality, solid presence and feel. It is quite heavy and perhaps larger than you might be expecting, so check the dimensions suit your space. I've only just bought the printer so can't comment on longer-term use, but my first impressions are very favourable. The print quality is excellent, it is quiet and amply fast for my low volume use. I've only given it four stars because the driver installation was unneccessarily complicated. I followed the instructions to the letter, but the setup failed three times. In desperation, I decided to let Windows do it itself (new software found wizard), and it worked perfectly, and simply, first time. The driver I selected was for Windows 2000-Vista and covers XP. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Why so cheap? Because it doesn't work
This is a beautiful looking printer. Too bad service from Canon is so disappointing.
There are simply no drivers for Windows Vista or XP 64 bits and Canon has no plans to make one.
Please chose an HP printer instead.
Only use this one until you realize that you may need more than 3 Gb of RAM in the future, which for some people is already a reality.
