If you do not wish to go to the expense of a digipen then this is the thing for you. Like a clip board in operation and a little under a half inch thick. Some may complain of the weight. The board uses AA/AAA batteries and the pen provided uses a small disc battery, I don't actually remember which battery types they are. The pen is an ordinary ballpen but weight on the tip switches on the pen and a pen symbol appears on the lcd display on the board telling you that what you write is being stored in the boards memory. Pen, board and spare ink cartridges, usb connection to the computer and software to download to. Remarkable really at the price.
