- Quick and painless.. as it should be!
After my old epilator died I spent a while looking for a suitable replacement. The reviews for Braun 5585 looked pretty good, and even though a lot of them claimed it was painless I wasn't convinced: my last machine was loud and intimidating, and *very* painful, even though I have been epilating and waxing for the past 5 years!

This one - on the other hand, is great! I used the 'starter' head to get an idea of what it was like, and it was incredibly soft - I did not actually feel a thing. I used the normal one afterwards, which was took a lot less time, but was also a little more painful. I also used it on my underarms, and am planning on using the small head for my face as well.

I bought this to replace a ten year old Epilady which was starting to show its age.

Wow! It's so much more effective than that one was especially with the 'expert' head. The expert head stings more initially but it feels more like I've had a close shave than any other epilator I've used. It just got so close to the skin and really picked up the teeny hairs although as a result, it stung more than I've been used to.

The headlight is not just the gimmick that I thought it might be. It makes a real difference if you're using this under artificial light. Much better than suddenly spotting a random lurking hair while out and about.

Don't hesitate just buy it. I have never written a review on any product before but after years of shaving, waxing and plucking I thought having read the reviews I would give this a go. If you are used to waxing, it doesn't hurt as much added to that because it can take away shorter hairs than waxing you don't have to spend half your life growing the hair long enough to wax it off- horrible during the summer. Even on the face it can be used daily if necessary it even takes away the fuzzy light hairs that waxing doesn't seem to reach. It left my legs smooth and certainly gave me a confidence boost removing the facial hairs which I hated so much. I tried using an epilator years ago - ouch!!! It went straight to the back of the cupboard. Thought I'd be brave and give another one a go as a friend recommended this as a good way of hair removal.

After researching for features and price thought this one looked like a good option (£34) but was still a little concerned.

It arrived - It looked great, I loved the sparkly white case with green trim and the little bag to keep all the attatchments in. I switched it on, my cat nearly jumped out of her skin - what a noise!

And the pain - well none!!! It's great!! I didn't use the ice pack (couldn't wait the two hours for it to freeze) and quickly progressed from the starter head to the main one. It did take a while ... Read More:
