- The work of The Devil
No criticism of Amazon. TomTom ? That's another matter. The unit works fine - until you connect to TomTom Home. The updates will render your unit an expensive paperweight. I can't recommend an alternative, but I emplore you to avoid this over-priced piece of junk.

- Battery life lets it down
This is a decent Sat Nav and I've only ever had minor problems with the navigation or accuracy of its data and directions. It has got me from A to B with relatively little fuss and as such, I shouldn't complain.

However my only gripe, and why I've rated it 3 stars, is that the battery life is so short that I have to have it plugged in constantly. I would estimate that it lasts for 15-20 minutes max. I know other people with Tom Toms and they have encountered the same problem. Consequently, I have burnt out two adapters because they have overheated from long journeys.

- Great piece of kit so far
My first sat nav unit, took a little getting used to at the start but for the price it's got all you need. Makes a strange hissing noise when it starts but you can't really hear it once the engine is running. Brilliant reception hasn't guided me into any countryside fields just yet! Plenty of features online inc the map share feature and some other customisations after you upgrade to v8 software (Tomtom home is on the unit itself). Does have a problem of telling you to go left/right on straight roads that have a harsh turn which can be misleading. Seems to cope fairly well if you take a wrong turn, did once tell me to U-turn when I could have gone straight minor quirk I guess (which it recalculated rather well after a minute). - Great bit of kit
I got this to assist at work, since I travel extensively. It has been an excellent piece of kit and I now wonder what I did without it! No, not infallible..... but gets you where you need to be 99% of the time, and near enough for the last 1%. Bye Bye A-Z!

- Sadly disappointed
I received a brand new TomTom from Renault. And I'm glad I didn't pay a penny for it. 1st it came to the route finding - I can point faster way manually with the paper A-Z. How come TomTom guys programmed this thing to calculate average speed of 30mph on narrow London roads during rush hours? Wide dual carriageway seems a better solution to me.
Then it's the map accuracy - it asked me to turn into a one way road the wrong way. I was expecting to have up-to-date maps on a device dated 2007. And then - on a straight road you can often hear "keep right/left" while on some crossroads there is no hint at all.
And last, but not least, are the speed cameras. Again - 2007 make and don't have cameras, that were long before 2006. The more so, the "report ... Read More:
