Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
Racking up impressive box office numbers right across the globe, the arrival of The Simpsons Movie onto the big screen proved, for many, to be more than worth the wait. But with its DVD release, there’s a compelling argument that Springfield’s finest have come back to their natural home.

The film itself is primarily Homer-centred, with the head of The Simpsons family seemingly consigning Springfield to certain doom when he dumps his waste where he shouldn’t. But, in the true spirit of the show, the plot takes a relative back seat to the antics of America’s first family.

And it’s those antics that offer the film’s gold. As you’d hope, it boasts several laugh-out-loud moments, from visual gags (the rock and hard place being a favourite) through to the by-now infamous Spider-pig. There’s not quite enough material to keep the chuckle counter going for the full duration of The Simpsons Movie, and the criticism that it’s effectively three episodes strung together has some truth to it. But you’d still be hard-pushed to complain for one key reason: The Simpsons Movie is grand entertainment, with plenty of rewatch potential.

So while you can add us to the queue of people who wanted more Mr Burns, and while it doesn’t quite measure up to some of the show’s best episodes, The Simpsons Movie still delivers, and does it with some quality. And Spider-pig is a work of genius…--Jon Foster

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - What I expected is what I got.....
I expected it to be funny, satirical, irreverent, silly, like an extended TV episode, with flashes of brilliance, and above all hugely enjoyable. And that's what it was. Bart's naked skateboard ride is a classic.

I can't understand how anyone who liked the lovely yellow family on the small screen can give this a bad review. True, many of the established Springfield regulars are missing, but you can't have everything. If you're a fan of the Simpsons, this is a gem. There are second hand copies going cheap now, so buy......you won't regret it!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Meh...
The Simpsons Movie is a film that is average on every scale, average story, average running time, and jokes that I have heard in the normal episodes. It's OK, but don't pay much for it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Like the later seasons
The film is definitely worth more than one or two stars. It is very similar to the later seasons of The Simpsons about 8 onwards) where there are moments of genius coupled with major areas where you just think that the writers have run out of ideas. All the major characters are there, Homer takes centre stage and it doesn't outstay its welcome. That's all I think Simpsons fans really want from the film. It was never going to be an all time classic spin off movie - TV films very rarely are. So it can be placed up there with South Park the movie as opposed to being forgotten quickly like Beavis and Butthead. That'll do for me.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One for the Simpson's fan
I really enjoyed this. Especially since I saw the film in the cinema and I wanted to watch it again with the subtitle to try and catch some of the jokes I missed. And I still missed some. As many people have pointed out this is really an overlong TV episode. It's strength is vignette/sketches based around the characters we already know and love, like Maggie being the quiet hero to rescue her daddy. The fact that it's an overlong TV episode is a weakness since it struggles to carry the story for 90 mins.

Having said that, I loved watching it again. Don't forget to watch the extras which are a treat, especially Simon Cowell doing American Idol!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A long Simpsons episode
There are many mixed reviews for The Simpsons Movie. I think that huge fans were expecting 'The World's Greatest Movie' and were a bit disappointed because it doesn't really offer much else above your normal Simpsons episode but it is still very funny and enjoyable. It doesn't have the best of plots, the only downside I give the movie is that it could have been made a bit more believable.

It of course features all of The Simpson family and follows their adventures when Homer accidentally pollutes Springfield Lake causing the US Government to place the town in a 'superdome', you see why I criticise slightly for not being so believable.

What I really like about the movie though is that it features the majority of the ... Read More:
