Editorial Review:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
There can barely be an Eagles fan on the face of the planet, after waiting patiently for the best part of 30 years--ignoring the piecemeal (and some might say mean-spirited) sprinkle of new songs on 1994’s Hell Freezes Over--that doesn’t crave every last minute of this epic stack of original work. But then there also hasn’t been a double album in history that couldn’t have been improved by shedding at least some of its load and tucking its jeans into its cowboy boots. Long Road out of Eden is no exception to that rule. Much of the first disc passes by in a shuffle of fairly standard, although admittedly enjoyable, mid-beat country-rock (see especially "Busy Being Fabulous") and the appearance of a drum machine on the second hints at a frankly unnecessary dalliance with 80s MOR pop--and one they’d already avoided by splitting the first time around. It’s music made by professionals, but lacking the classic, cinematic poise that has made Hotel California a mainstay on the best albums of all-time lists. But then the ambitious reach of the wind-swept, politically charged 10-minute title track really pulls things back, while the pleasant calypso drift of "It’s Your World Now", near a cappella melody waterfall of "No More Walks in the Wood" and moody blues swagger of "Somebody" prove there’s still just enough wind beneath these wings. --James Berry

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Long Road Out Of Eden....what a journey!!
This album is, despite only being a year old, classic Eagles, and one of their best. It was worth the wait, as although it's polished and sounds perfect, it is full of raw, real emotions, and every line is delivered with that feeling as a driving force.

I was also impressed they kept the momentum going with two discs, 21 tracks in fact, of consistently beautiful music, each song speaking directly to me as a listener and making me believe everything they're singing.

This is also a brilliant showcase of the different genres covered, from pure heartbreak as we can hear in I Don't Want To Hear Any More, to catchy, commercial almost pop sounds in How Long, to folkier music in No More Walks In The Wood, and a few others ... Read More:

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I am thoroughly impressed...
It's interesting reading all these other reviews, which tend to be either very positive or very negative. How anyone can possibly be the slightest bit disappointed with Long Road Out Of Eden is beyong me. To me this is one of their strongest releases and damn impressive. Some complain about its length, and that some of these songs shouldn't have been included, but apart from the cover of the dull Guilty Of The Crime I certainly do not agree. Others complain that some of the ballads are too soft and sentimental, but that was always a part of the Eagles sound (The Best Of My Love, I Can't Tell You Why, etc.), so - again! - I don't agree. I wouldn't want to be without Do Something (excellent), You Are Not Alone (very pretty melody) or I Don't Want To ... Read More:

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Its not bad..
I'm not a huge fan of the eagles but there stuff does impress me. The long road out of eden does however have its flaws, being a double disc means enevitably there are going to be "filler tracks". This is certainly the case here and while none of the tracks are bad you get the feeling on some tracks needed that tad more effort. My next point is the most important however and no doubt will get a lot of fans a bit riled up but I have to say it. Any band that is going to put out a double disc album has to make the listener feel the album needed both discs, and in my opinion this album does not. I think the album would have benefited much more from a single disc of the best of the two. Despite these things, the album does have some standout moments and ... Read More:

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fantastic eclectic music
As a fan of Hotel California, Desperado etc but not an Eagles afficionado I wasn't sure what to expect from this album but I love it. The styles constantly switch from the folksy "No More Walks in the Wood" to the boyband sound of "What will I do with my heart" to the truly rocky title track to the almost mariachi "It's your world now" and each is musically superb. The other thing I really like about the album is that even though many of the songs have downbeat lyrics whether referring to lost love or to global themes the music always lifts you so it isn't depressing. Been playing it in my car non-stop for a month and I am still not bored!
