- Canon PS SX100 - a decent camera, great now its come down in price!
I bought this camera for £230 almost a year ago.

Once I got used to it and read the instructions the photos were good, the zoom is great and in good light conditions it performs well.

The video quality is superb - the best I have seen on a digital camera. The sound and picture quality or recordings are very good.

Unfortunately it was faulty so towards the end of the guarantee I have had to exchange it and i'm finding it hard to find one that is as good as this one.

I think as the price is coming down this is a good buy. Big enough to take good quality shots with extra features but small enough to take around.

Rating:

I just bought it and I love the camera. The only down side is that it was delivered in an open box and therefore I am not sure if its new. But that is the seller's problem not the cameras. The camera seems to be very good quality. Its not as small or cute as most cameras. But its smart. It zooms and gives you options to find your best. I read in reviews that the flash recycle is not the greatest and therefore tried it. I really didn't notice a problem. Yes you can't take serial shots with flash and it takes couple seconds to recharge but it wouldn't be a problem for me at all. I think others might have used worse batteries, as the charger recycle depends on your battery charge. I use 2500 NiMH rechargable batteries with it and it works. The ... Read More:

I wanted to upgrade from a 4 year old 3MP Panasonic Lumix to something with a bit more umph.

This camera is one of the top 3 Which? Best Buy's - and by far the cheapest of those 3. It's packed with features, easy to use and produces really really good photographs. I particularly like taking close ups of plants and flowers, and the macro function allows me to get within a couple of centimetres of the subject and still be in sharp focus. It's bulkier than some of the really slim-line cameras, but no-where near as big as these new breed of high-zoom non-SLR's which are just enormous. I didn't even have to buy a new camera case, just popped it straight into my old one with no problems. It fits into a coat pocket too.

Purchased this camera as a snapper when i can,t be bothered with my DSLR.
Features i wanted were a powerfull zoom, abilty to put a camera in my Jeans pocket ,wide angle,viewfinder ,manual controls,and good pics straight out of the box !! After much internet hunting discovered this camera does,nt really exist.
Walked into a large electrical retailer one day for something else and saw the Canon 100SX and thought lets have a look.
For starters it fits in my Jean pockets etc altho a bit of a squeeze but too be honest the really small compacts just don,t do it 4 me they seem very shiny and slippery and in my book easy to drop or even lose !

I did a fair amount of looking around before settling on this camera, I started by looking at the ixus range, but really wanted a camera which allowed manual use - the ixus range is fantastic, but has limited manual use.
I looked firstly at the powershot A720, and though the camra was superior pound for pound over the ixus in terms of optical zoom, settings, etc, it fell down in that it didn't have the quality "feel" of the ixus - it felt "plasticky" and cheap to me.
Then I came across the SX100, it is not made of metal, but doesn't have the cheap feel of the other powershot cameras, it looks and feels well made. For 150 quid it has 8mp res and a massive 10x optical zoom, you can set the iso from 80 all up to 1600. It has aperture priority ... Read More:
