Appreciating that the title does the film few favours, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging nonetheless emerges as a really quite pleasant surprise.

Based on the book by Louise Rennison, and directed by Bend It Like Beckham helmer Gurinder Chadha, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging centres around the character of Georgia Nicolson, played by Georgia Groome, and her trials and tribulations as a 14-year old. There are boys, to start with, namely two brothers who have just started at her school, that should help in her quest for a boyfriend. There’s her rival, Lindsay, along with her friends in the ‘Ace Gang’. And let’s not forget too Angus the cat. It’s a mixture that naturally sends Georgia’s head spinning, and it’s the basis of a strong film.

Far more than the teen Bridget Jones it threatened to be, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging is actually a neatly layered, well-played film, that slots easily into the teen market that generally American cinema targets the best. Mixing some very funny moments in with the more dramatic (and it’s the quieter moments that ultimately impress the most), its young cast do themselves proud, helped immensely by the guiding hand of the ever-improving Chadha behind the camera.

What’s more, it’s rare to see a film that talks to a teenage target market as well as Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging, without the need for liberal dollops of gloss. It’s entertaining without being patronising, and shows that British cinema has more breadth to it than many may give it credit for. Warmly recommended. --Jon Foster

I never got to see this film in the cinema so asked for it for christmas. I Love it so much. If you are a teenage girl who wants a good film this is deffo the one. Fantastic!

Angus Thongs and perfect snogging is a typical teenage girl film about falling in love i must admitt it is really entertaining and great soundtrack - very original and fun - but i think over-sixteens might get bored as it is mostly aimed at 10-14 yearolds - its is also a bit mudled up because it is based on the first two of Georgia Nickolson books and changes the plot too much Apart from that IT IS GREEAT

- An absolute masterpiece of British Film
This film shows the ability of Britsh film producers. With an all-star cast, including Steve Jones (Television presenter) and Aaron Johnston (Actor in TV series; Nearly Famous) you are taken into the typical life of the average 14 year old in England.

The film starts with Georgia being her typical teenage self wanting a party in a club and a boyfriend whilst still managing to complain about her body hang-ups such as her nose, which she see's as ugly and petruding, and her boobs, which she wants to be a tiy bit bigger.

Angus thongs and perfect snogging is slightly spoilt by it's title. I know this is quite a minor bug but I know someone who wasn't allowed to see it because of the title. Overall this is a heartwarming chick flick that is very very funny and perfect for girls 12 - 16. Fab! Five star! I love angus!

I went to see this with my teenage daughter and we both loved it. I think a lot of young teens will really be able to relate to Georgia and her problems. The film was funny, sweet and great fun.
