All the Michel Thomas courses are quite extraordinary in the level of sentence construction you can articulate after just 5 to 10 hours. People should remember that although this course is 8CDs, they are audio and not computer CDs so it is easy to make false comparisons with other courses. THESE COURSES ARE JUST 10 HOURS and what you can achieve in that time I have not found anywhere or with any other teaching or method.
Yes, Michel is more effective in his native German and in French, but still this is exceptional for the time and money invested. Obviously you will not be an effective Spanish speaker but importantly after just 10 HOURS you will have a good understanding of the language fundamentals to take into a more comprehensive training programme.

Rating: - Really Helpful
This is a really good course. Initially I bought the 2 hour course, but soon realised I should have gone for the full monty, which I now have. The only down side to the course is that the male student frustrated me to a point of wanting to bang my head against a wall. If he was edited out, the course could be so much shorter and less frustrating as the female student is far superior to him and is very pleasing on the ear. That said, the course is very good and has helped me no end. I wanted to learn the basics before embarking on a 3 month intense spanish course at a language school, and this course has achieved my aim.

Rating: - Very easy to uderstand and learn
This guy is simply amazing at teaching a language.

With the dream of moving to Spain and the start of a new year i decided it was a great opportunity to learn the language.
I managed to find an introductory 2 hour disc set(basically the first 2 discs from the 8 disc set) for £14.95 at waterstones but i`m sure you`ll find it here cheaper.

I only bought it yesterday and already i can string my own simple sentences together and more importantly i understand how this is done and what i`m saying.

I was absolutley rubbish at French at school and was a bit wary of trying to learn a language again. But(pero)it is not impossible for me (no es impossable pero me) to learn from the course.It is now 9:15 am and i bought my cd set at 3pm yesterday afternoon.I`ve listened to only the first section for 20-30 minutes at the most, yet i can now understand what i`m saying in Spanish.

If you,like me,think you could never learn a new language then i say to you BUY THIS NOW!! you`ll amaze yourself,honestly!

The only Spanish word i have uttered before was Paella.

If you`re an absolute beginner with no experience whatsoever then forget the rest of the language courses and buy this one.

Rating: - Great Learning Aid
I have tried a variety of ways to learn spanish, with little success. Michel's method is easy and allows you to learn and practice.

It took me alot more than eight hours to be able to make use of what was taught, becuase it takes time for it so 'soak in'. But a basic understanding of spanish was achieve very quickly.

I would recommend it, and it is alot better than others methods I have used.

Before buying these fairly expensive CDs, I read the reviews and the overwhelmingly positive ones made up my mind, though the negative ones stuck in my mind as I waited for it to arrive! Well, I found this to be the most useful approach to learning a language I have ever found, having done O'level French, and a few Italian self-teach courses before. I can see why people comment about the lip smacking and slow student, but these seem really trivial problems compared to the fact that you rapidly assimilate a terrific framework of understanding of the language. I bought this (and Instant Spanish by Elizabeth Smith) four weeks before going to Spain for the first time, and didn't use any English at all in the usual tourist encounters. By the end of the holiday (I didn't listen to the last four CDs until I was there), I was confident enough to try to use as many tenses as possible, and to aim to avoid asking the same question in the same way, even though I have always been too embarassed to try to speak a foreign language before. The thing I found most important is that he really hammers home where the stress on a word must go to be understood, which noone ever told me before, and is the difference between speaking (probably terrible) Spanish and just getting blank incomprehension, which is the thing that I always find most likely to send me scurrying into English. "Instant Spanish" is also very good, and bulked up my vocab, without which I would have needed a phrasebook as well as Michel, but I think without his CDs, I would have tried to use what I learnt from Instant Spanish and not been understood because I didn't grasp where to stress the word. I am now half way through the French CDs, and even though I remember most of the words from school, I am finding it just as useful to help pronunciation.

In short, the best money I ever spent on a book or CD.
