Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good for Gastronomics and Home Economics!
The book Nigella express was a very bad Christmas present, which I received of the gracious head of Ashted Wood Grammar school for boys, and girls and boys at sixth form, Mr Benjamin Upstart, M.A, who's specialist subjects are theological studies and Home Economics, hence the present. The book however was poorly written by Mrs Lawson, who has made many grammatical mistakes perhaps due to the fact it was written on an express train, this brings us on to my next point, the point is that there is no references whatsoever to trains, which is a particular hobby of mine, thus, it was a disappointing read, if only Mrs Lawson was a train enthusiast (I could have sworn that she was present at Railfest 85', in Luxembourg) The recipes are very uncreative particularly her Flying Scotsman, and the text is extremely innuendo prone, lines like "I'm always up for spotted dick after a few glasses of Chateau le blanc". However, Upstart insists that the text was good for his as class in Home economics and ethics, and so I shall reverently recommend such a dogmatically sound assumption. Yours in academia,Dr. Prof, T.G.G.S.A.Vass, VIIII, PhD, B.A, M.a; BSC, MSC, MPHYS, LLB, STD, STB, STA, DIP PHYS, MTHEO, M.CHEM, M.BIOCHEM (OXON), ET CETERA..

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Expressly Disappointing
I have a library of cookbooks that I delve into regularly but sadly this one will stay on the shelf. Nigella seems to have confused the idea of express food with convenience - with the added hurdle of how to go about obtaining exotic and expensive fare from posh London delis - hardly something for the average person who doesn't live a stones throw from London. Still the concept, accompanying TV series and glossy photos make it appealing to most die hard Nigella fans. However, from someone who makes a living out of food writing and cooking this is very disappointing and a disservice to the idea of express food.

One thing that struck me about the recipes is that most of them are highly calorific, slap dash shadows of the non-express versions she is seeking to recreate. Nigella's contribution to culinary dumbing down - no doubt why it's getting rave reviews; she's hit on a market there. There's only one recipe in this book that I've cooked - the intense chocolate cookies (a recipe she has borrowed). I don't find any of the other recipes inspiring and wouldn't go out of my way to cook them.

You'd do better grabbing some convenience food from a good quality supermarket - I can recommend Watirose own brand pizza- great for when you don't have time to cross town to get to the posh deli.

One star for the cover design and photography.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A MUST HAVE!!!
Bought this book because I liked her "How to Eat" & was not disappointed.
I've made some of the dishes from the book- they were quick, did not require lots of ingredients & preparation and were well-received. My husband has also started baking because of this book & is slowly expanding his repretoire.
I world recommend this book to anyone.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - WORTH BUYING
I BOUGHT IT FOR MY SISTER AND SHE LOVES BECAUSE SOME OF THE FOODS IN THE BOOK ARE EASY AND QUICK TO MAKE AS WELL AS TASTY TO EAT

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic book for all
What a great cook book. Most of the recipes use ingrediants that you can find in local supermarkets or already in your cupboard. They are easy to cook and the results are yummy. Great book for quick, easy and tasty meals. the first cook book i have bought and i have many that i would say you really can make everything in it with ease and without too much expence.
