Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Inspiring!
This is actually the first book I read in years and seriously recommend it to anyone who always wondered what his reason for living and how to find out what his destiny is. The book starts easy and then progresses to something really strong. It made me shiver continuously as the book was coming to its end and gave me my own personal answers and views.

""The alchemist said, "No matter what he does, every person on earth plays a central role in the history of the world. And normally he doesn't know it."""

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - There IS a real message here...
I think people are missing the point of this book... It's message is about the 'Laws of Attraction'.. What you think and what you feel will always manifest. Put simply, if you always perceive yourself as unable to do anything to make your life better, then it won't ever get better... Whereas, if you place belief in that your life can get better, it will get better...We reflect how we 'feel'... Personally I don't think religion/spirit world is really relevant to it either way, as attraction is more scientific...

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Nice story - nothing more
Two types of people are likely to have difficulty with this book. The first are people who believe their religion is the one true path to God. The Alchemist's new age spiritual tone proposes that all forms of spirituality are as one. Here, the main Catholic character forms spiritual bonds with Muslims and others.

The other group who might struggle with the book are those who believe there is no God or spirit world. They will, like me, be left to accept this book simply as a nice little tale of discovery and hope.

The central message that if you follow your dream, the whole universe conspires to help you achieve it, is nonsense of course. It wasn't for me (as many people have claimed) a life changing novel. But it is refreshingly short and sharp, and I found myself reaching the satisfactory ending quickly, and with a smile on my face.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing... what a diamond in the rough.
This was a beautiful, inspiring and truely captivating book. Shrouded in mystery, meaning and insight.

Lett me address some of the people who have frankly, slagged this book off. Some of you say, you have to be weird to read this weird book. If you truely think so, I'm afriad you have completly missed the meaning of this book. I'm sorry for that, because you're missing out on a lot. I would really suggest you pick up this book again when your in a more mature state of mind, with the discipline and want to genuinly find out what this book is about, and then make a real, proper evaluation. A few points you should look out for are:

1.) Wasteing your time in life doing things that don't really matter to you.

2.) Dreaming!... this is healthy, try it once in a while. MAke sure you make something of the dreams though, otherwise it's pointless having dreams.

3.) Adventure... breaking the mould you have set for yourself in life is scary, doing it will make you feel uncomfortable, but will you feel like that after you've broken it?, who knows, you don't ever try.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - dont listen to us, just give it a read
i think that this book is simple, simple is genius. i love the book and think it deserves all the hype. its a book that should mean something to you, nevermind what anyone else says about it. just give it a read and see what you think.
