Books : A Quiet Belief in Angels

I hated this book, finding it tedious and unbelievable. I ploughed through it waiting to see what everyone else sees but never got there. I guessed 'who did it' almost immediately. It is not a book I would recommend.

Rating: - Truly Amazing
For the first half a dozen pages or so I wasn't sure about the style of writing, then I suddenly realised that I was devouring it and couldn't put it down. I had not heard of RJ Ellory before and to be truthful bought it because of the Richard and Judy link. I loved it. I did not want it to finish. I wanted to start again straight away but my husband wanted to read it. I WILL read all his other books. R J Ellory is my new hero.

Rating: - This is much more than a Thriller
This is my first attempt at writing a review but feel so strongly the need to tell folk that 'A Quiet Belief in Angels ' is one not to be missed.
I must admit it was not a book I would have chosen but only because I do not normally read Thrillers. I was tempted into reading it after listening to Richard and Judy discuss it. Boy would I have missed the best book ever had I not.
The story is about a young boy named Joseph who with his friends tries to find out who is responsible for the horrific murders which keep happening and swear to do everything possible to prevent more murders of young girls in thier small town in Deep South America. It was not just a brilliant story from start to finish but the way in which the author wrote about Joseph, his innocence, honesty, just the whole way in which Joseph was potrayed, made you absolutely love him and fear for him all the way through the book. It was so beautifully written I felt sad when I had finished it. It has given me a thirst for more by R,J.Ellory and will definately read more of his work.

Rating: - I was pleasantly surprised
I ordered thisi book not knowing that it had been the R & J book and not having read reviews, and indeed never having heard of the author.
The R & J sticker on the front made me think what the heck have I brought this for (publishers please stop this trick).
Wow was I surprised. I did have a bad start with the book, I would read the first 3 or 4 pages and something would happen which meant that I could get no further and when I next picked up I had to start again. It was well worth the perseverance The book flowed and gripped right to the end, the characters were alive, you could feel them.
The number of times I thought Ha Ha thats the guy, only to find I was wrong.
A book well worth buying and trying

Rating: - A must for your 'to be read' list!!
I always check out Amazon reviews before buying a book... life's too short and reading time too precious to make a bad choice. I'm so glad I ignored the bad comments on here. This is a beautiful book, a wonderful story and so much more than just a 'whodunnit'. My first ever review on Amazon because I feel so disheartened that this book has received unfair negative comments. When so many have enjoyed this great book maybe the fault lies not with the novel but with the reader...
