VHS : Sharpe's Revenge [1997]

Rating: - all youd expect exitement adventure and great acting
If youre a Sharp fan (and I make no excuses or apologies for the fact that I am!)you'll love this. It's everything you'd expect from Sharp, a great story which twists and turns, throwing you a few curve balls along the way, I know that sounds a tad vague, however you really do need to see it for yourself since any plot details revealed -apart from a very general outline would spoil it.
I can tell you that the Peninsula War has drawn to a close, but the private war between the French spy Ducos and Richard Sharpe is still alive and kicking, with Ducos as ever the agressor. His latest attempt to destroy the legendary Sharpe finds him attacking the officers integrity and honour by accusing him of stealing Napoleon's treasures, things raised from the ranks Sharpe values highly. Eager to clear his name he sets out determined to root out the truth -and to seek something else the unforgiving Sharpe is only too familiar with REVENGE!
Ducos (Sharpes nemesis) is on top form forcing Richard Sharpe, Pat Harper et al to utilise all their wit and cunning.
The acting from Bean is as always powerful and very believable, with very strong supporting roles adding to the overall enthusiasm and exitement one can't help but feel watching.
If you too are already a fan of Sharpe then this is a must for your collection, if not, then although this story easily stands alone it is not perhaps the best introduction to the character, simply because knowing more of Sharpes history (and that of the other major players such as Ducos and Pat Harper)adda a further dimension and depth to the tale that might otherwise go unnoticed.
