Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Lighten up!
After a "no answers" movie and an increasing shift towards that incomprehensible conspiracy arc, I'm not sure what's so bad about The X-Files becoming a lighter show. After all, fans should know by now that the series isn't going to stop and politely spell it all out. Well actually, in season six, it kind of does. The two parter, Two Fathers/One Son sums up pretty quickly a lot of tediously confusing concepts. It's summed up two or three times actually. To have loose ends finally tied up feels very gratifying.

And yes, season six has a lot of comedy. Most of it works (two parter Dreamland is unmissable, Arcadia is wryly funny, and The Unnatural is sweet), even if it does point to the show running out of ideas. Hence Biogenesis spreading tons of new convoluted ideas into the mix, to give the cast something to get headaches about next year.

There are truly thrilling moments here (Drive and Monday are amazing), and only one or two duds - the opening and closing episodes stink, and some of the "monster" episodes have quick-fix resolutions that don't quite satisfy - so what exactly is so bad with it?

The Lone Gunmen get their own episode. Ghosts turn up. Michael McKean plays Mulder. Stop complaining and have some fun.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Season Six - The 'Shipper's Season
For me, this is one of the show's best seasons. Sure, it may be lacking some of the horror from earlier seasons, but if you're after 'ship, then six is the place to be. There are many interesting insights into the Mulder-Scully relationship, and hints that things are getting more intimate. There are also quite a few funny episodes kicking about here.

Downsides to the season itself are the lack of any real horror, and also the end of the syndicate, and in a way the demise of the major mythology arc. As for the box set, there are no extras here, no interesting little tit bits from Chris Carter which are seen on the earlier sets I have. But if it's the eps you're after, then that's no hinderance, and true 'shippers shouldn't miss out on this set. (Though DVD's might stand up to your obsession better!)

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - A Dier season of rubbish
I must admit I haven't seen all the X Files episodes in this season, mostly out of choice. The season was perfetic to say the least, with too many supposedly funny episodes. I got into the X Files for its catching mythology and superb one-off episodes. There are none in this season worthy of any praise. It seemed to be the only show out that you could truly believe some of the events shown are possible. Not like Stargate, Angel, and other over exagerated sci-fi programmes. Half the time through out the season I felt I was watching unfunny episodes of Buffy.

In my eyes this will be known as the year The X Files screwed up, and must have as a result lost many of its viewers and fans (as they did with me for awhile)as a result. I can't believe people spend money on this or that it has been praised with five stars in some cases. Complete disappointment and stupidity sums the whole season. So PPPPlllleeeaaassseee THINK TWICE.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - After the fantastic film, things go painfully average.......
The X-Files Movie was brilliant. I was hoping for Season Six to be even better, but was disappointed. In fact, its possibly the worse series yet.
Episodes like 'How The Ghosts Stole Christmas' and 'The Rainmaker' are wastes of what could be genuinley chilling cases. 'traingle' was a waste of time, and 'Arcadia' was plain stupid.
Some of the more experimental episodes like 'Drive' made me realise its not all bad as did the 'Dreamland' two-parter and 'Two Fathers/One Son'.
Despite high production values and quality acting as usual, Season Six is painfully average with only four or five exceptions. Now, when is Season Eight available on video? THAT'S how to do a post-movie X-Files season.....

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Thrilling... and very funny!
I truly loved this season and I believe some episodes are just... So funny! My favorite is "How the Ghost Stole Christmas"; the scenario, the music and the plot are so originals and at the same time so classics! But this is just one episode, and I strongly recommend everyone to see the others!
