Video Games : SonicThe Hedgehog 2 Sega (Game Gear)

Rating: - It's good but hard.
I remember the old Game Gear that I received one Christmas when I was young. Oh yeah I certainly remember that predaccessor to the great PSP I do. Of course back then us gamers were perfectly satisfied what with the old side scrolling characters and backdrops along with hardly any voiceovers. Still we had the subtitles occasionally crop up on screen to give us the parts of dialogue instead. Now they can not only do all the above but they can make proper 3D games that look almost lifelike along with voice overs etc.

Anyway, when I got my Game Gear I, like any other youth, desperately wanted to play as many 'Sonic The Hedgehog' games as possible. This is of course 'Sonic 2' the sequel to the 1991 smash hit that made Sega become arch rivals with Nintendo. This version is the Game Gear version of the superior Mega Drive one, not to say this one isn't good though. What is good about it is that it's fast and judging by the opening level you get the impression that the game designers wanted to make it a little darker.

Where it is inferior though is that this is supposed to be the story that introduces Tails, Sonic's sidekick hence allowing multiplayer like the Mega Drive one but no it doesn't. Also it is flippin' difficult! I have never been able to get past the first Robotnik/Eggman boss myself.

If you are a hardcore Sonic fan then you might want to get it as it is more than likely going to be increadibly cheap but rare now, just don't expect it to be as good as the Mega Drive one, which rocked.
