Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent adaptation
This is an excellent film. I have also read the book, and this
film is a very good adaptation. Obviously a film cannot be
100% faithful to a book, but why would you want it to be? Film
is a completely different medium, and this film works very well.
Whether or not you have read the book, you will love this film.
Very atmospheric, well acted, excellent scenery.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Pony
This is terrible; probably the worst film I've ever seen. It's a load of old pony.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Lord of the Flies - American version
I thought this was an awful adaptation of a thrilling and scary book. They have completely ruined it. Don't watch it, you will be crying by the first 15 minutes! I recommend the British version because it is very good!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - An Appalling Film of an Amazing Novel
This is the most disappointing transfer of book-to-film I have seen. Ever. After reading the classic novel at my school we watched the film, and after merely an hour the teacher switched off the tv as it was that bad. The film makers have taken the story line of the book and they have changed it so that it is ludicrously unbelievable, and they have taken the magnificent language of the book and replaced it with swearing. This film disgraces the powerful, moving novel it is based on, and if you were disappointed after watching this film, then do not let it put you off reading the book.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A fabulous, underrated film
I know it's fashionable for the literary snobs to pan this adaptation of The Lord Of The Flies. Why an American cast, why in color, why bother remaking the 1963 film ?? Why not. The story, with only minor changes remains in tact, the morality holds fast. Perhaps the updating will lend itself to a newer generation that would not as easily identify with British early 60s slang and temperment. The 90s remake benefits, among other things, from the brilliant musical score of Phillip Sarde. The cinematography is gorgeous in it's deadly beauty. And it's well acted.
