VHS : The Pink Panther [1963]

Rating: - BORING... INTERESTING... BORING... SLIGHTLY FUNNY... DATED
When I first watched this film, I thought all the Pink Panthers were going to be the same, so I TRIED to love it, but I had to give in and accept that it was rubbish. I'm so glad that the other Pink Panthers were SO MUCH BETTER!

First, the biggining when it shoves the word MEANWHILE in your face just confused me and made me think it was going to go on forever like that.
Second, the jokes are just so not funny, especially the one where the egyptian lady says "Take your filthy hands of my ass-p" (Yeah right, ha ha).
Third, Inspector Cluoseau isn't the same character as he becomes in later films, he's more the 'person that keeps you from falling asleep'.

My conclution is: DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME WATCHING THIS (SKIP IT, WATCH A SHOT IN THE DARK INSTEAD)

Rating: - i just couldnt get it
i never really got the way that this film worked, it didnt make sense. With a french detective that chucked in a bit of humour i found this film more arousing than anything else.

Rating: - Boring
Dull as ditchwater. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because of the part where Clouseau is playing the violin. Don't let this put you off from the rest of the pink panther films or you'll really miss out. Instead of this one, go for The Return of the Pink Panther first.

Rating: - Comic Genius
Although not to everyone's taste, this for me is the epitomy of Peter Sellers comic genius. This is the least 'slapstick' of the pink panther series and shows a young Peter Sellers in spectacular form. Some of the jokes are obvious now but only because they've been copied a thousand times.
I could watch this film over and over, and it's just as funny. A must see.
