Rating: - Latin music made in Scotland? It actually works!
The sleeve note claims this is a salsa album made by Scottish musicians who love Latin music and by South American musicians who love Scotland. It's a love affair to be encouraged. The rhythms will be familiar to all who have bought Santana's last couple of albums. The instruments include horns (sax, trumpets, trombone) guitar, fiddle, percussion, piano, accordion and, yes, bagpipes. Pipes have rarely sounded less military, or less highland. A reminder that pipes are international, not principally Scottish. They don't dominate here, but provide a texture that complements the horns. A fiddle, too, that reminds one more of Grapelli than Glasgow. This improbable mixture works. Music to dance to, and much more salsa than celtica. It isn't easy to sit still while listening. This is, as described, latin music, much more than it is Scottish. It is more than a curio and deserves more than simply a patriotic audience.

I really love this CD - I've had it for about a year now and I still play it all the time. The tunes are really catchy, the rhythms are infectious.... I don't know if Salsa Celtica were the first to do this kind of thing, but this CD is amazing and deserves to sell thousands of copies.

A fine example of tunes that compel you to move. Salsa Celtica's "The great Scottish latin Adventure" gets you shaking from the out set. Scintillating salsa rhythms entwined with the mystery of the glens. The voices and instruments blend perfectly for a truly entertaining experience. Well worth a listen, especially if you're partial to dancing about the living room while the rest of the families out! If you are looking for something to get you on your feet, this album is the one to do it.
