Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Legend Will Never Die
I first played this game when i was 8 years old, it was the first beat em up i ever played, the blend of interesting characters, imersive plot, spectacular soundtrack and compelling gameplay had me hooked, i borrowed it from a friend when i was 8, and i had it for a year, me and my friends spent many, many hours playing this game, and to me this is the best game of my childhood.

since soul blades initial release i have played the rest of the series, Soul Calibur 1, 2, 3 and 4, an though they are all masterpieces of gaming, i still believe soul blade to be the greatest fighting game of all time.

i recently purchased, and finished soul calibur 4, and i wanted to go back to the very begining, and i found this copy of soul blade, and i bought without hesitation.

I truly recomend this game to every fighting game fan, if you dont mind bad graphics that is, the game has aged a lot and the graphics are obviously not that good.

This is the first and greatest installment of the soul series, it has tranceded history and the world, this tale of souls and swords, eternaly retold.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Soul Calibur One
This review is for the PS version of the game it comes from the best makers of fighting games their most famous games are the Tekken series so you know this game is good the graphics are weak but remember these systems are out of date. But these game is good and compeltes the series of Soul Cailburs so far.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Soul Blade Best Beat em' Up on PSX
Now without a shadow of a doubt Soul Blade is an all time CLASSIC! all you have to do is look at the game cover and you know it is brilliant.

The ARCADE mode is excellent along with the versus mode offering great challenges. Soul Blade is often about skill not a question of how fast you can beat your opponent to a living pulp. Offering a GREAT range of moves every character has there own fighting style from a fast moving ninja to a slow moving barbarian. All characters have different weapons to experiment with and chop up your opponents with.

Soul Edge Mode is basically a better version of Tekkan Force Mode earning new weapons as you go through the game with challenging fights where your life goes dow slowly or you have to beat five enemy's in a row.

dont be a fool and think the game is rubbish and you'll go through like it's nothing cause it isn't that easy! To be the best you have to study the moves, know how to counter them and then, only then can you achieve the Soul Blade! Of course like EVERY game after your hard work watch a well earned movie of what happens to the character after you have mastered the game.

It's a great game buy it now!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A classic fighting game!
Soul Blade is a definite PSX classic. The characters, the weapons, the moves, the looks...it has it all!

Okay, by today's standards the graphics are poor but they do their job perfectly well - the colours are bright and clear, the characters are nicely animated and the whole thing runs smoothly and quickly. So no complaints here.

The sound is excellent - crisp and clear, the sound of armed combat is very good indeed! Also there is the music, which really adds to the game, providing plenty of atmsophere.

The gameplay is superb. With at least 10 very different characters to play as, and each having 8 very different weapons, along with about 6 different modes of play we're talking a lot of variety here. Moves are reasonably simple to pull off, making this a fast paced, tactical slug fest rather than a button bashing bonanza.

The only minor critiscism I have is Edge Master Mode, which has some rather unfair and annoying missions in it. Apart from that it's hard to see what else is wrong with this game.
