Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - FALCON ISSUES
Some of the information around here in some reviews is incorrect. I just got this console from amazon and mine did have the falcon chipset. From August 2007 with built in HDMI port and which does feature improved cooling and is much quieter.

To check if yours is falcon look around on the internet for a guide. there is some links in the discussions. - Not all falcons have 175W power supply. Mine is 203W and is still a falcon.

I hope this helps.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - From an Owner of a PS3 and 360
Having owned both a 360 PS3 I feel i am in a good position to comment on how good the Microsoft 360 actually is.
It has to be said that the 360 has a much wider range of games because it has been out since 2005, and essentially it is a fun console to play on. It is really easy to work and to set up and the online features are second to none (which is why you pay for it).
However since the PS3 has significantly dropped in price on release of the 40 gb version i would ask you to make the right choice and buy a PS3! The PS3 looks better, feels better and plays better than a 360. The wireless controllers are better thought out so you dont have to stick aa batteries in the controller to get wireless, as with the 360 (U can get play and charge but its at extra cost).

The online features are also FREE! So you can be up and running and battling your mates on the same day!

The 360 makes a relentless noise when u hit the on button and its enough to drive you mad. I feel constantly worried that its going to pack up! In comparison u can bareley tell the PS3 is on, its as quiet as a mouse!

Despite the Lack of Games the PS3 will stand the test of time, the 360 will eventually die, like most of the original consoles did with the ring of Death!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Xbox 360 worth the wait
I have waited a while for my xbox 360 as I didn't want to suffer the initial problems (all machines have problems, my Toshiba laptop has been back twice).
If it breaks along the line I'm not worried, I'll just send it back, I can cope a few months without it. It's a games machine after all.

I have found it worth the wait. I have been playing assassins creed on mine and it nearly (but not quite) compares with the now 1 yr old top range graphics card in my PC (that alone cost me more than 1 1/2 xbox 360's so no surprise there!).

You have to download the update and unzip the file (default.xex) to play your xbox games on it, I burned it onto a dvd and stuck it in.

The fan is way too loud, I agree, I couldn't watch a dvd with it going but I can cope with games. If there was one thing that would make me send it back, the fan would be it.

Overall I recommend the XBOX 360 and will be keeping mine, when the warranty runs out I'll see what I can do about the fan noise. Another success for microsoft.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 3 Red Rings of light, However.....................
As I am sat here today typing this review my Xbox 360 is on it's way to be repaired having shown the 3 red rings of light (death!) issue. It is a strange feeling, I thought the 3RROD was somthing that happens to other people's 360's and not mine! Clearly i was wrong but i am now left feeling somehow part of a large community that i previously was not.

I purchased my 360 in March 2006 and have not had a single problem untill yesterday so the console really can stop functioning at any time.

Considering the above and the fact I have always loved Playstation I saw Call of Duty 2 in store and just had to get one and I have loved it since day one. The games (COD 4, Gears of war, Halo 3) are fantastic, the graphics, gameplay and online play via the user friendly Xbox Live cannot be explained, it is just so good.

I really would like to get a PS3 with it's Blueray and slick look, but the bottom line is at present I simply Do not want one because I don't like the games selection and online interface. I want to be made to get one to get away from a faulty consle like the 360 but I cannot get enthusiastic about PS3 even though I thought I would.

So for now I will wait for the 360 to return and hope this is a 'blip' and it will be rectified very soon. My advice from an open minded gamer is GET THIS CONSOLE, the games, community feel of online play and Xbox Marketplace make this a cut above.

I have to give 5 stars for fun but the reliability means an overall 3.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A GOOD BUY
i bought this item on x mas day 2007 and it is a awesome console you can play games and listen to music and watch videos and the graphics are amazing i strongly recommended this item to anyone. ALTHOUGH the xbox 360 does have an overheating problem so in order to fix this overheating problem you need to buy a cooling fan like the intercooler or something els like that i got the tecknet one and it works fine for me. plus Microsoft who make this console is a very rich company so there are lots of selections of games like assassins creed, halo 3, call of duty 4, etc. ps the wireless controllers are awesome
