Video Games : Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)

Rating: - Super Super Mario Galaxy!
My ten year old son got this game for Christmas and after many hours of play over the holiday period here is his review.

Mario? In Space? You better believe in this game for the Wii. You may think its only a cosmic fighter but there is a lot more to it than that. You can travel to a load of galaxies with beaches, grasslands and many many more. Mario also has a number of things he can turn into as well. He can turn into a bee, a ghost, Ice Mario and a spring. Not to mention the classics Fire Mario and invisible Mario. You are trying to find all the power and grand stars to fly to the centre of the universe where Peach is with the help of Rosalina, all the lumas and all the toads. You will also encounter some friendly faces such as bunnies, penguins, bees and robots. All the gameplay and controls and the Wii remote use are excellent. A great game but just one more thing. You know the way you fall into space if you jump off and die? Well in this game if you run on a (curved) edge you will not fall but run on the bottom of the planet.
A 10 out of 10 game for all gamers. *****

Rating: - Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy excels in all the areas you expect from the classic Nintendo game. The worlds are well constructed, colourful and imaginative, perfect for hiding hidden stars in to keep the game playable long after the main objective is completed.

The wiiremote and nunchuk are incorporated perfectly with the game, the shaking and pointing has a purpose to it and doesn't feel like it has been shoved into the game simply because it's an expected feature.

One thing I will say against Mario Galaxy is don't be fooled by the notion that this can be played with 2 players, it adds little to the gameplay and the novelty wears off pretty fast.

Overall an excellent game, certainly making a great case against those who say the wii is only suitable to multiplayer games.

Rating: - Fun but long lasting?
Another good game for the mario series although not as challenging as some of the previous games. (Almost too many mushroom toads telling you what to do.) Saying that it's a strong game and plenty of variety for new comers to mario.

A good time filler, colourful graphics and usual goal. (Way better than paper mario)

Rating: - Best game I have played for a while
I bought the wii for my 4 year old son and other games to date have just about been at his level. Mario Galaxy, whilst still fun for him to watch, is ideally pitched for us adults to enjoy. Easily the best wii game I have seen so far and the issue I have with other wii games is that they lack depth. Still not finished galaxy but had many hours of entertainment so far and the depth issue is not a problem.
The gameplay may be too easy for hardened gamers but for me it keeps me going as when the going gets too tough I usually give up these types of games. Some levels are tricky and you will have to attempt several times. Some of the gameplay is very original and enjoyable.

I would recommend this game to everyone.

Rating: - Wasn't sure, but glad we bought this !
We weren't sure about buying this, oh, are we glad we did. 6.5 hours playing on the first day. It is so aborbing, and so much fun. Trying to jump whilst upside down takes some getting used to ! Lovely graphics, excellent gameplay. Totally addictive.
