Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Refreshing but not too original
Many may spot James Morrison and think 'oh great... another singer/songwriter'. So what sets James Morrison apart from his contemporaries?

His honest and raspy voice is obviously a major draw and refreshing to hear. He is a step ahead of contemporary James Blunt in this area. However, even though you cannot disagree with the raving comments about his tone this sound isn't new. I could not deny there are striking similarities with Gavin Degraw. One only has to hear the Degraw hit 'Chariot' to hear this.

This does not mean there is not a lot to like about this debut, on the contrary. The sincerity evident in all the songs is always welcome. However, for me to give five stars the album has to change my life or inspire me a great deal to do something. There are some fantastic songs on this release which really gave me chills. 'Wonderful World', 'Pieces Don't Fit Anymore', 'Undiscovered' and 'Better Man' stuck out for me but there are a lot of 'inbetweens' which just plesantly pass you by without much thought.

Lyrically and vocally brilliant, musically lacking in some places but definitely worth your time if your a fan of singer/songwriters. Love him or hate him though, I think James Blunt wins on the 'solid debut' front.

Three and a half stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quite remarkable
There is no other way to describe this debut album. The maturity, originality and musical performance is both impressive from the first listen and mesmerizing on further plays. I can't recall ever being so impressed by the full content of an album - every track is distinctive, each one is superbly produced and frankly James Morrison makes a lot of the artists in and around the 'popular' charts look very average indeed. Snatches of great musical icons (e.g. Stevie Wonder) are scattered through James' vocal repertoire but these almost subliminal aural cues are intriguing hooks rather than plaguaristic in any way. I can't wait for further releases.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Simply Stunning
I agree with other reviewers. This album is a cracker. Saw and met him live at Summer Sundae where he opened the festival (bottom of the bill) So many people missed out. I was hooked from the first song, brilliant and what a nice guy, signed a flyer for my boy Jack.
I have read the comparisons etc Van Morrison etc, Stevie Wonder etc....has anyone thought Terence Trent Darby. Listen to Wishing Well and then listen to Track 1.....You've got to love it!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - What A Debut!
When I first heard the single "You Give Me Something", I knew I had to buy any album this guy released. Seldom has this happened - in fact, not since Elton John have I purchased an album on the strength of just one single!

Every single track on this CD is five star. The music ranges from soully to upbeat, but each and every track is sung from the heart - and gets you right in the heart each time you hear it. I for one will never tire of listening to this album - it is a cracker in every respect.

For me, the best tracks are "Wonderful World" and "The Pieces Don't Fit Here Anymore", but that is beacuse they are related to my life at this present time. There is not a bum track on this album, and therefore, favourites are bound to change.

What this CD does is to get into your heart; the music, the lyrics - and James' voice - all join together to weave their magic and you are hooked.

This will be an all-time favourite, and, at a mere 21 years of age, James has got a glittering future. Keep your eyes on him!

My advice - get out there and buy this CD today! It's a cracker!
