Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Hot enough for me
It's quick, economical, convenient, but the big question about this appliance is: does it make decent tea? The answer is: it depends.

It's fine for me. I sling a teabag in a mug and yank it out again before it's had much time to brew. My husband likes his tea 'hearty' - made with boiling water like his mum used to make it, and I have to admit the Tefal Quick Cup doesn't deliver 100 degree water to his liking. However in all other respects it delivers a mug of hot water in seconds. The water is hot enough for instant gravies, custards and cup-a-soups. It's fine for instant coffee (ugh!) and it makes a respectable infusion of fruit or herbal tea.

I reckon it uses about a quarter of the power of my electric kettle (I've checked it on the meter) because although it's power usage per second is the same, it delivers a cup of water in approximately a quarter of the time. (It's now ridiculously easy to make a cuppa while the adverts are on telly.)

It's quick and convenient. I love it.

Just about the only thing it doesn't do is deliver boiling water for the picky tea-folks of this world.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Please don't bother
We bought this (without reading the reviews here - unusually). I agree with the other reviews that the water isn't very hot. I like my drinks very hot indeed and, it was moderately OK if I drank my drink straightaway but pretty useless otherwise. My husband felt that the drinks weren't quite warm enough and he leaves them until they're quite cold in my view.

Anyway, having instantly regretted the purchase but, of course, having used it not being able to do anything about it, the quickcup broke! Yes, that's right - we had it for less than 2 days and it stopped heating the water at all.

We took it back to where we bought it from (which wasn't Amazon) and the woman on the counter said that they'd had hundreds of them back as they had broken.

It's such a good idea - but clearly isn't robust enough or (in my view) hot enough.

Please don't waste your money.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - LOT BETTER THAN I EXPECTED!
Have thought about buying one of these for ages but negative reviews put me off. However with a discount voucher when out and got it.
All I can say is its brilliant. Water is plenty hot enough - can't tell any different from my tefal kettle. Its great to be able to make a hot drink in about 20 seconds and also not to have to keep running to the tap. Not sure if there have been recent modifications but I am really pleased.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A fantastic kettle replacement!
I was slightly worried about buying this product after many negative reviews, however my worries were ill-founded. This product is amazing, and makes getting a cup of tea a really simple task. I use the water from this to cook pasta and rice for example, which saves time and energy of waiting for water to heat up.

Yes the machine makes noise when it heats the water, but would you not expect it to? It may not be perfect, and I am sure that it will be improved in time, but for now, I don't know how I managed before I had one!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Disappointing - avoid!
I bought this a few days ago...

First problem - the noise! It vibrates, the water comes out in spurts - splashy spurts, you always have to wipe down the counter afterwards.

Also, having to microwave drinks for 20-30 secs to get it hot enough as it comes out luke warm more often than not!

Additionally, I don't think the reservoir is big enough, seem to be filling it up all the time.

It is lovely having filtered water, but Brita do regular kettles and I'd recommend that over this. I'm using the regular kettle again and trying to get a refund from Tefal.
