Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Long Road Out Of Eden....what a journey!!
This album is, despite only being a year old, classic Eagles, and one of their best. It was worth the wait, as although it's polished and sounds perfect, it is full of raw, real emotions, and every line is delivered with that feeling as a driving force.

I was also impressed they kept the momentum going with two discs, 21 tracks in fact, of consistently beautiful music, each song speaking directly to me as a listener and making me believe everything they're singing.

This is also a brilliant showcase of the different genres covered, from pure heartbreak as we can hear in I Don't Want To Hear Any More, to catchy, commercial almost pop sounds in How Long, to folkier music in No More Walks In The Wood, and a few others in between.

A must-listen album to anyone who likes and knows good music, although for the more emotional amongst us (myself included), have someone to cuddle or a box of tissues with you when listening.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I am thoroughly impressed...
It's interesting reading all these other reviews, which tend to be either very positive or very negative. How anyone can possibly be the slightest bit disappointed with Long Road Out Of Eden is beyong me. To me this is one of their strongest releases and damn impressive. Some complain about its length, and that some of these songs shouldn't have been included, but apart from the cover of the dull Guilty Of The Crime I certainly do not agree. Others complain that some of the ballads are too soft and sentimental, but that was always a part of the Eagles sound (The Best Of My Love, I Can't Tell You Why, etc.), so - again! - I don't agree. I wouldn't want to be without Do Something (excellent), You Are Not Alone (very pretty melody) or I Don't Want To Hear Any More. The folk ballad Center Of The Universe gives me goosebumbs - I think it is by far their most beautiful ballad alongside After The Thrill Is Gone (1975). The title track is another favourite: The guitar solo puts a lump in my throat and reminds you why these guys are still up there with the very best in the music business. I could go on and on about these songs (Waiting In The Weeds, Frail Grasp On The Big Picture, Business As Usual, etc.) - they really are THAT good. If, like me, you were very apprehensive about Long Road Out Of Eden based on the four, very bland, new songs they recorded for Hell Freezes Over, then do NOT worry. The Eagles are BACK, and they are OUTSTANDING. Every time I am listening to Long Road Out Of Eden in one sitting, by the time I get to the end of it, I am thoroughly impressed and really rather overwhelmed and touched by the fact that they have managed to make such a superior comeback after all these years. Higly recommended!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Its not bad..
I'm not a huge fan of the eagles but there stuff does impress me. The long road out of eden does however have its flaws, being a double disc means enevitably there are going to be "filler tracks". This is certainly the case here and while none of the tracks are bad you get the feeling on some tracks needed that tad more effort. My next point is the most important however and no doubt will get a lot of fans a bit riled up but I have to say it. Any band that is going to put out a double disc album has to make the listener feel the album needed both discs, and in my opinion this album does not. I think the album would have benefited much more from a single disc of the best of the two. Despite these things, the album does have some standout moments and some great song, my favourite being the epic title track opening disc 2. It may be 10 minutes long but the song is fabulous and seems over in a flash. Overall the album is a good listen, certainly more suited to the established eagles fan but good nevertheless

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fantastic eclectic music
As a fan of Hotel California, Desperado etc but not an Eagles afficionado I wasn't sure what to expect from this album but I love it. The styles constantly switch from the folksy "No More Walks in the Wood" to the boyband sound of "What will I do with my heart" to the truly rocky title track to the almost mariachi "It's your world now" and each is musically superb. The other thing I really like about the album is that even though many of the songs have downbeat lyrics whether referring to lost love or to global themes the music always lifts you so it isn't depressing. Been playing it in my car non-stop for a month and I am still not bored!
