Video Games : Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Sega Megadrive

When the original Sonic The Hedgehog 1 game was released worldwide, it became a worldwide hit and the character Sonic started to become a famous mascot for Sega and a big rival of Nintendo's Mario in the 1990's!

On November 24th 1992 Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was released worldwide for the Sega Mega Drive Console. It is a direct sequel towards its procedure and it not only became a popular game for the console, it was also the best selling for the console.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 sold a total of 6 Million Copies for the Sega Mega Drive, it sold 2 Million Copies more than Sonic The Hedgehog 1 as that game sold 4 Million!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 introduces a brand new character to the franchise, Miles "Tails" Prower, a fox that has two tails with the ability of flying for short periods of time. Tails soon easily becomes one of Sonic's best friends and they both decide to team up with each other to stop Dr. Eggman's new plot of completing his Death Egg Machine and attempting to conquer the world!

In Sonic The Hedgehog 2 you have the option of choosing Sonic & Tails, Sonic Alone or Tails Alone in 1-Player Mode, plus a second player can play as Tails if the first player chooses Sonic & Tails! Sonic also introduces a brand new Spin Attack move so instead of relying on running and pressing the down button players can press the down and the jump button to perform a spin attack!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 also introduces a brand new multiplayer mode, which includes 4 Levels, which contain big competition. It's a race to the finish and the first player to reach the goal is the winner!

The levels in 1-Player Mode introduce new environments, music, enemies and additional Power-Ups as well. Not to mention as well that there are only 2 Acts per world, although Metropolis does have 3 Acts because it's the last world.
Since the game is a sequel towards Sonic The Hedgehog 1, the difficulty of this game is slightly harder! Chaos Emeralds also return to the saga, although now instead of 6 Chaos Emeralds to retrieve, there are 7 to find!
An additional feature to the game as well is once all 7 Chaos Emeralds are collected, Sonic can become Super Sonic, making him totally invulnerable to all enemy attacks and can go super-fast in under a couple of seconds!

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 has come on to become a smash hit and a popular game for the Sega Mega Drive Console. Now today, you can find and get this game for the PC, Playstation 2, XBox, XBox 360, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Emulation Download and much more!

My Personal Game Score: 10/10: Fantastic, Brilliant, Superb

My Wish: I wish this game had a Save Feature for the older consoles as in order to complete the game; you've got to travel through all the worlds, and collect all the emeralds in one single day, which can take quite a long time!

Final Comments: Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a game, which truly shouldn't be avoided. It is a game that is enjoyable, playable and fun for not just one, but two people!

The other day I notided it avalible on X-Box Live. I decided.. Why not? I can't be bothered to get my Sega MegaDrive out of the Attic.

I had forgotten just how good it was. Great soundtrack, bizarre bosses and addictively funky levels. The story line is not the greatest but if you watched the TV cartoon as a kid you can fill in yourself.

I am happy to say I now have my Sega Megadrive out again instead of tiresome new consoles. Nothing can compete with classic gameplay!
