Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - 2 good tracks but the rest sounds like poor 60s girl band music
I bought the album on the strength of Rockferry. However most of the album sounds like the poorer tracks on 60s girl band compilations I have heard. If you like watching 'Heartbeat' on TV than this is the album for you.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant!
I love this album! I was so looking forward to it being released! Then worried that I would be disapointed! But I wasn't. I really love 60s music, so this really is a wow of a cd for me! Her voice is just so wonderful! She does have that soulful sound to her which is just fab! And like some of the other reviewers you can here the Dusty Springfield in her! For me there is not a bad song on the album! I love Mercy but then who doesn't! This is a must for all music lovers!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - well i think it's great
This album is fantastic. All tracks are great and I am so in love with the track stepping stones. I really can't stop listning to it. It is remeniscient of 60's but with a absolutely definite modern twist. So sexy. Go Duffy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Soul Classic
Wow, wow, wow. What really annoys me is when people seem to think you can only like Amy Winehouse OR Adele OR Duffy. Why can't we appreciate all three (different!) artists for their individual merits? While you won't find any of the truly heartbreaking stuff 'Love is a Losing Game' is made of on Rockferry, there are no strings as uplifting as Distant Dreamer on Back to Black either. Rockferry is one of those albums you listen to, and each time the track changes, so does your new favourite song. Duffy's vocal is just indescribable. Lots of reviews have said she lacks 'real soul' or hasn't been through enough pain to produce anything really emotional - are they listening to the same album?! Her voice combined with the gorgeous strings used in many of the tracks come together to make something truly exquisite. The songs sound like something from the 60's - Lulu with more power and emotion, or the already overused Dusty Springfield comparison. Highlights (other than the singles) include:
Hanging On Too Long - Pure soul, achingly sad
I'm Scared - So simple, so subtle, so beautiful
Delayed Devotion - Catchy, more uptempo - more like Mercy
Warwick Avenue -Silky smooth song about moving on
Overall, you are TRULY missing out if you don't have this album in your collection. Buy Back to Black and Frank, and 19 by Adele...AND THIS!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - orangey goodness.
what an album, more importantly - what a spherical head. KP's production on Mercy is orangetastic.
