Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Sony is tops
Sony NWZA828K 8GB Video Walkman with wireless headphonesWell, I have read the gripes about the new ipod players, namely the new sound chips that fail to impress, the poor volume, the crashes, the lousy earphones, poor battery life and the tie-in with itunes. If you want to watch endless videos on a small screen then I suppose the ipod classic will store all you can ever need BUT if you want to listen to super clear music then go for the new sony. The volume limiter you can just switch off and then the sound can blow you away. The standard earphones are amazing- they even dont fall out AND also included are the blutooth cordless headphones, you can even control the player remotely from these headphones. Battery life is the best you can find. Get your music from anywhere and just drag it into the Sony via Windows Media Player latest version. I found it easy to put my home video dvd on to the player using Movavi prog. to convert to mp4, I got a free trial download from the internet ( if you want to get the full version its about £15 ) But this time you cant use windows media player to drag the now converted mp4 video, I found it easy to drag it into the sony as if it was an external memory device, after opening its contents and revealing its video folder, just drag it into this.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The return of the Sony WALKMAN!
Guess what I received the day before my birthday? Well, actually quite a lot of things really but one gadget stood out above the rest. As always Sony make top quality products. I've downloaded my entire music collection to this nifty little thing and my entire picture collection, too.

On to the player then. It looks absolutely fantastic! Way, way better than those iPods some silly people might have. This is the top of the range and it's what we call the creme de la creme. Just as it looks as though the PSP wouldn't fit in the pocket, THIS is the best!

Video playback, photo viewing and music playing is a snap, I mean you wouldn't be able to find another player like this one and with 8GB memory and up to 36hrs of battery life, there is no end to the fun you can have with this. This has an elegant design as well. Gone are the days of wearing a music player on your arm and you get a superb little iPod beater.

Charging the thing is as easy as one-two-three. Just simply plug it into the USB port(s) on either your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 2 or laptop or desktop computer and you're away to having the maximum amount of fun that you enjoy.

The surround options are awesome as well. In all there are seven options: 'None', 'Studio', 'Live', 'Club', 'Arena', 'Matrix' and finally, 'Karaoke'. The crystal clear sound quality is brilliant and you have the option of viewing your photos either horizontally or vertically.

But I'll tell you that, if you're running Windows Vista, you'll already have Windows Media Player pre-installed. Windows Media Player is essentially the easiest way to transfer your music. If you have a playlist just simply drag and drop on to the 'Sync' list. Then click on 'Review Sync' and after that click 'Start Sync'. Syncing has never been quicker or easier to do. Video converting is a little more complexed than music and photo transferring. I downloaded a video comverter, whoch is really neat. There is something called 'Trial Version' in the middle of the screen but that's the software not the video. I've now got fifteen videos on it and I must say I am very impressed indeed.

iPods really are bad compared to this little B-E-A-Uty! The USB cable looks brilliant as well. I also got a stand and case for it to add to the Sony effect. In my opinion, generally, those geniuses over at Sony HQ, Japan have played their 'Top Trumps' cards in making this nifty device.

The Wireless Bluetooth headphones I have managed to get working and I'll tell you, my fellow Amazon shoppers and Sony fanatics that they are so awesome and the player, well, it's a superior gadget that even James Bond himself would want but he's really annoyed because the Q-Branch won't supply one to him. In conclusion, both the player and the Wireless Headphones look oh so great. I even got a cradle and a case for it plus a speaker system, too.

One more thing, iPods, or whatever you might call them these days, are non-existent. WALKMAN is the only way forward.

The return of the Sony WALKMAN has been a successful one by far and I'd personally reccomend this player to anybody! So stop testing the waters and go for the big cheese!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is the one the others will copy
Brilliant MP3 player. Not as "cool" as an Apple one, but so much better. The screen is a better size than that of nano, or some previous sony models. It was easy to transfer films to it because we already had the software that converts it to a suitable format. Watching films at the gym instead of TV is so much better. I love the bluetooth /wireless feature too. I was a bluetooth virgin but pairing these up was a doddle. Work perfectly all the time. And quite useful not to have to wear your MP3 player on your arm while excercising, meaning you can comfortably look at the screen to change tracks. Only downside is that the headphones pinch the top of my ears, but that may be something to do with the way I wear them and I can get different ones eventually. You do get the wireless and in ear buds supplied and those are good phones. As for the price, the Amazon price now is great. I paid £5 more last week, but still chuffed to bits with my purchase.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - My first ever Mp3 Player at age 46!
Did lots of research beforehand, found these reviews very helpful, and made my purchasing decision based on various reviews on the net. Hope you find this helpful

Important to me were - Best quality sound, very much liked the idea of wireless headset, - I always manage to get in a tangle with wires. Having the wireless capability means you have your own personal 'On the head wireless disco'(see told you I was 46!)Great means of keeping fit bopping around the kitchen! Stick the player in your pocket and enjoy.
Have to say the wired phones do produce a slightly better quality sound, very high quality in fact like no stereo effect I have ever heard before. However this is only noticeable when you do a direct comparison

Must have one of the longest charge holding capabilites of any Mp3 player out there.

Controls easy to grasp with a little practice

Displays photos extremely well makes use of the full screen size both horizontally and vertically unlike most digital cameras, although obviously picture size is still very small

I suspect the ipod system is perhaps a little easier to use to sync. with your computer, but with a little perserverance I have worked it out. I'd be intrested to hear from anyone who has the same sony walkman, how they get on with transfering music across from their PC. Anyone have experience of Media monkey and its' suitability?

All in all I think it is absolutely great, plenty enough storage for the amount of music I am intrested in wanting to store.

Almost perfect, would give it 4.5 stars if it was possible

Can anyone recommend a docking system for this particular model? - again sound quality important.

Glad I bought what seemed like a rather expensive leather case tailor made for it. Very well made.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My first player- love it
I got my player this week and i love it. The sound quality is clear through both the bluetooth headphones and standard earphones and the device is well made and easy to use. The menus are similar to Ericssons and the interface to my computer is simple via media player 11.

The unit charging is via USB to your computer, but the Sony AC to USB 5V power Adaptor is sold seperately allowing you to plug it into the socket.

The bluetooth headset charges via normal plug socket.

There is is handy addition due out any day now, the BCR-NWU5, which will allow you to hook up to your existing stereo via the aux and charge the unit at the same time.

This is my first player so i can't compare it to the others, but i certainly recommend it to anyone. By the way, it doesn't come with a case but it fits a large phone sock i got from a certain auction site.
